Tips on how do you make WR's strafe?

I have auto strafe and auto sprint off. But I can never get receivers like Randy Moss and Crabtree to turn around and go for a jump ball, especially when streaks are thrown short. I press the L trigger to attempt to strafe on a short thrown streak, and the recievers dont even turn around/strafe to go for the ball. The only time I can get recievers to go for the ball is when the are in-line with the pass. What am I doing wrong?

I think the new "Ball Hawk" feature replaces this. I think it is X/A. You hold down on it when the ball is in the air and then press Y/Triangle and your player is supposed to go up for the ball at the highest point.

Thanks, Ill try this out, sounds a little difficult though, you have to hold X or A while the ball is in the air, then quickly press Y when the ball get's near the receiver sounds like a little much. Ill try to find the manual for this game and see how to do it.

Just read up on ball-hawk and it seems like its only for defense. So you tell me if a ball is thrown short, their is no way to make receivers jump up and go for the ball on All-Madden? They are just going to sit their and let it get intercepted and not even attempt of go for the rock!

I press Y and my receiver jumps. Didn't think get rid of the strafe so people couldn't "rocket catch" anymore? I never tried that, so not sure if that's correct or not.

I usually let the CPU strafe for me then i switch and catch it myself. Only other way that i know of is to run in a little circle and then strafe. Once you are facing the ball you can strafe but anything over "Pro" strafe is disabled and i don't know why.

Worst ea idea yet...a huge part of the game is going up strong at catching the ball at its highest point. This alone tells me that all pro and all madden is useless.

Exaxtcly, recievers, especially ones like Magtron are suspose to try to go up and get the ball, it shouldnt matter what skill level the game is on. Big recievers only go for the ball in this game when it is timed right, and they are in stride with the ball, but some times the ball is thrown behind the reciever so they should have the ability to stop, come back, and try to get it. Not sit their and ignore the ball and dont even give an effort when it in the air.

I agree 100%. They did this because they still refuse to admit they cant get it right without removing options that are used every sunday. EA Sports, Its not in the game!

Has anyone tried pro difficulty with all cpu sliders at 100? All madden plays ok but if I cant go up manually to catch the damn ball then I mine as well play fifa!

That is so ridiculous... Considering DBs can strafe at that level.
(Makes me want to scream in frustration)

I have ended up highlighting the WR and then holding the 'Y' button to make him try to catch the ball. Outside of that, it is pretty much a guarantee that the CPU will pick it off.

The one thing I hope for in the coming generations of Madden is a complete overhaul in how receiver/user interaction is mapped to the controller.

I would like to see the 'catch' button be more of a 'positioning' button than an 'action' button. Let the ratings and player size take over from that point.

Then again, that is easier said than done... like everything I suggest and/or wish for.

I played All-Pro with CPU sliders at 100 and it was actually too easy.

                              This^^

It doesn't have anything to do with Difficulty level. They took out the ability to strafe on Offense so you couldn't manually rocket catch. Guys could just run streaks, hold up and bullet it 50 tds, pull strafe and catch it. The DB would just watch it happen. Instead of fixing it they just removed strafe on O.

Strafe on Offense in Madden has been gone for yrs at this point. Nothing new.
