    Seattle Mariners!

This is for people who are using the Mariners in franchise and want to discuss what they're doing in terms of trades, roster moves, etc.

I've seen threads for the Astros, and the Blue Jays, and wanted to make one for my beloved M's.

It's been good to been an M's fan since the All-Star break huh?

Perfect game, 7 game win streak, and now only 3.5 games behind the mighty Angels and 7 out in wild card race.

Thames is looking good, liking that trade more and more. Ackley seems to be coming around and Saunders looks to be back on track. Jesus with a 3-run bomb tonight. Woot!

You can say screw reality and try to get Adam Jones back (lol). I think they are fun team to play with in franchise. Felix is a given and you have good pitching prospects but offense is their weakness. I use small ball strategies with them. Safeco is a pitcher's park so you have to build a team around that. Its challenging and fun.

Yeah.. If utilized correctly, they can be an alright offense. They just need to play small ball and use their speed and defense to their advantage. When I play with them, I use Brenden Ryan to bunt over runners a LOT! Haha! They will have spectacular pitching in year 2, and beyond with their prospects, too.

I've been running a test franchise (strictly simming) and by 2015 the M's have reverted back to their late 90's selves - dynamite hitting and no pitching, despite the fact that my lineup is practically the same and my rotation consists of Felix and the big three. Ackley, Montero, Smoak, and Jaso turned into offensive monsters, and Saunders, Carp, and Wells not too far behind.

I'm always the Seattle Mariners.. never anyone else... since way back in '06. Diehard M's fan here and I couldn't possibly enjoy The Show as much using a team that I didn't really care about.
I'm into Sim franchises now, too.
Otherwise I have to play on Legend just to make the gameplay challenging and the outcomes more realistic (ie: not guarentee playoff contention EVERY single year )
It makes team management much more important when it's purely the attributes which count, and not my skill as a gamer.
In my franchise I can hit just fine with poor attributes.
However, in Sim, I have to be more selective about who I trot out onto the field, as their CPU-controlled performance is never as good as when I'm controlling them.

              It's fun.
Just set the game for CPU vs CPU and sit back and watch.
Browse the internet while it's going on, keep an eye on things and make neccesary pitching changes, pinch hits, etc.
              Take one pass it on

                Re: Seattle Mariners!

Shipped off Brandon League to Boston for a B prospect right fielder in the offseason my first year, and I drafted a monster first baseman that hopefully can factor in if Smoak doesn't produce for me.

I also sent Ichiro to New York, just a few days before he actually was traded IRL- it was uncanny. But I sent a minor leaguer too (I think a high B) and received an A-prospect shortstop.

I'm considering picking up a big name fielder (LF, CF, RF) to compliment my lineup, any suggestions that would be within the M's range?

Thinking of starting a Mariners franchise and building the team around King Felix, Ackley, Smoak, and Wells. I think they have some very good pitching prospects too right?

I'm very unfamiliar with the team though so I'm not sure on who I'd move to acquire prospects year 1.

Haha that's so weird, what I did with Ichiro was offer him arbitration in the offseason and he declined and signed with the Yankees, so I got two extra draft picks. For the first few years I used in house options, then in 2015 I went out and got Andrew Cashner and Rymer Liriano for Jose Campos and one one of my A pitchers I drafted (same potential as Walker).

Its actually really hard to net any of the big name stars, what teams usually want in return is Felix, Walker, Hultzen, or some combination of both (basically established players with mid/high A potential), so what you do is go after the players who are blocked by the superstars.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that there are some really good talents in the draft now. I've been able to net multiple A's and B's every year, I posted most of them in the draft discussion thread.

What rosters do you guys use?

I've been meaning to start a franchise for a while but I want to start the season with the current roster (trades already having occurred, Smoak adjusted to suck, Zunino and other non-Hultzen prospects like Brad Miller being good, the bullpen the way it is, etc.)

                        I use Scott's.

Just sim'd through 2012 and started my Mariners franchise in the off season. I really like the potential this team has. Won my firstgame of the year against the Twins. Ackley homered his first 2 times to the plate, Wells also went deep. Felix gave me a great 7 innings and a 7-2 lead let me give a prospect some time on the mound. Took the win 11-2. The SP from the Twins helped me out a bit giving me 5 straight pitches right down the middle putting my first five on base.

I think I can contend for the wild card this season, but that'll depend greatly on my 3-5 starters. Felix and Hultzen I have no doubt will be minimum 15 game winners. Ackley already looks like a potential all star of he keeps this up, but I'll need Smoak to step it up and show some potential as well. My 6-9 hitters worry me as they combined for just 1 hit.

Walk off grand slam for Kyle Seager in my franchise, against the Angels. Down by 2.

                          So freakin' awesome.
