What happens to cut players?
I had to cut some good rated players to get down to 70 from 90. What happens to the players that were cut? Do they show up next season or did I lose them for good?Tags: None -
They're gone forever I think

Re: What happens to cut players?
It would be nice if they went JUCO and returned to the recruiting pool the following season (unless they were Seniors), but it doesn't work that way unfortunately.NCAA: Minnesota, Minnesota St-Mankato
NBA: Wolves
NHL: Minnesota North Stars (undefeated since 4/16/93), Wild
MLB: Twins, Dodgers
NFL: Vikings
MLS: Minnesota United
Premier League: Manchester UnitedComment

Re: What happens to cut players?
If you over recruit by that many you're taking away quality players that could've been on CPU teams to provide you more of a challenge. That's why I only ever recruit to 70 guys total and never cut anyone. Maybe your goal is to make the game easier (and if so, then disregard), but most people (I'd hope) are looking for more of a challenge.Favorite Teams:
College #1: Michigan Wolverines
College #2: Michigan State Spartans (my alma mater)
College #3: North Carolina Tar Heels
NHL: Detroit Redwings

Re: What happens to cut players?
I'm really tired of this "make it a real challenge" crap. You're supposed to recruit the best possible guys you can to field the best team you can.
The CPU saddles you with walk-ons anyway, and while you might have a great LG now, you might not in 3 years.Comment

Re: What happens to cut players?
I didn't say to recruit inferior players. I said not to sign 20 guys (or 10 guys or 5 guys) that you're going to cut anyway.Favorite Teams:

Re: What happens to cut players?
I only needed 4 position players, FB, 2 WR and a P. But the CPU ended up adding like 8 QB and **** load of WR and TE, decently rated but not enough to cut my original players already.Comment

Re: What happens to cut players?
i recruit the best players i can find every year, ideally getting all 25 players that i wanted. if i only end up with 20 i wont add 5 inferior 3 or 2 stars just because, but if i can get 25 5 stars i would every year.
And i let everyone go through training, if any frosh i just recruited is as good (or almost as good as) a soph, than that dudes getting cut. I frequently will cut Seniors if they aren't significantly better than my juniors.
at a certain point this game like any other won't actually be challenging, so i like to recruit against myself to put together the best group of 70 i can, and see how much i can outdo myself.Comment

That sounds incredibly boring just beating the AI by 70 every game because you take advantage of the poor AI logic. To each their own.i recruit the best players i can find every year, ideally getting all 25 players that i wanted. if i only end up with 20 i wont add 5 inferior 3 or 2 stars just because, but if i can get 25 5 stars i would every year.

Re: What happens to cut players?
I have a rule - No cutting players. I can only recruit the # of players that I have potential roster spots available for.
It is too easy to build your team quickly if you over-recruit and cut weak links year after year. I guess to some people, that's fun.
To each their own indeed.Click here to read my dynasty report:
