    Dogslax41s Sliders for Casual+ Players

Based on a request in another discussion I wanted to throw out the sliders that I have been using in Play Now and CCM(Coach) and getting great results.

I have to fist give credit to Jarodd21 as I used his black set as a base and began adjusting from there to my play style, which as noted above is what I would consider casual+ and ended up with some pretty significant changes or would have included them in his thread. I've been playing Madden since the Apple II days so I'm a much slower and deliberate player rather than relying on quick twitch reaction stick skills.

My personal house rules and method of play.
I dont move defensive players around and do do any cheap formation audibles. If I do audible its a simple zone to man adjustment or vice versa on defense. On offense I never hot route due to still being gun shy from 2k8 and the broken hot route system and not wanting to take advantage of the game. I call plays using Gameflow. I set my playbook and ratio distribution and call games like most head coaches would and act like the offensive or defensive coordinator is calling in the plays. I sometimes overrule the gameflow but its only to specify run or pass and allow it to still make the call.

Now on to settings and sliders. Not sure if all of these work together or if in pieces they will work but I'll give you everything I set up since I am very happy with my results so far.

    Game Time 15 min
    Run off to 16 sec
    Fatigue 75
    Threshold 0
    Speed Slow
Start with All-Pro and edit from there (not sure this makes a difference but its sounding like it may)

Penalties (Everyone knows the Madden drill with penalties, I'm playing with these but it doesnt seem to matter too much as long as they arent drastic changes)

    Offsides 54
    False Start 52
    Holding 53
    Facemask 54
    Clipping 52
    Roughing the Passer 54
    Everything else at 100

    Human / CPU
    QB Accuracy 18 / 95
    Pass Block 0 / 0
    WR Catch 45 / 65

    Broken Tackles 50 / 100
    Run Block 30 / 70
    Fumbles 25 / 40

    Pass D
    Reaction Time 10 / 100
    Interceptions 30 / 65
    Pass Rush 30 / 70

    Run D
    Reaction Time 30 / 80
    Block Shed 0 / 50
    Tackling 50 / 50

Special Teams still a work in progress. Had it locked down then played a rain game and it was a circus.
    FG Acuracy 30
    Punt Accuracy 35

Enjoy and hopefully these help someone enjoy the game as much as I have been enhoying it.

    Thanks for posting these...

I see in the other thread that you're getting pretty good run / pass splits from the CPU...

Any idea why the sliders are triggering that?

Which sliders do you feel are doing the most to contribute to that?

    Thanks!

Re: Dogslax41s Sliders for Casual+ Players

Short answer. I don't know exactly, but the fact that I just used them in a Player CCM and got the same distribution leads me to a couple possible theories.

The first is the fatigue slider. Fatigue at 75 is giving me a good split between RBs and there might be something to the CPU not wanting to go to the second back as much as the starter when playcalling.

Second is the high CPU accuracy is creating a good to high completion % for the cpu against me. This results in the CPU QBs getting on a hot streak. It seems like the cpu likes to go to the qbs hand when he is in a groove and I am seeing alot of consecutive completede passing streaks when I play. I think this was one of the things that led the Pats to keep passing on me even when they got up big.

The sliders also seem to be perfect to my ability against the CPU, meaning that the CPU can actually sustain drives against me and their playcalling seems to react to that. In the Bengals v Ravens game I played it may be just me projecting what I want to see in a situation that was more chance than anything else, but it ceratinly seemed like the Ravens got very conservative in the red zone becuase it was a grind it out slow game and they were just looking to put points on the board.

One way or another, given how horrible some people are seeing the CPU AI play against them I have generally had the feeling like 85% of the calls the CPU made I would have called a run/pass in that situation. I don't want the game to play 100% to real life statistics because then it really wouldnt be me influencing a video game and I could probably get the same enjoyment out of holding a controller while I watch football on Sunday but these so far have given me the feeling like I am playing against the scheme that my opponent might use in real life on Sunday.

This look interesting, I will try them tonight. What is your level you start at(All-Pro, Madden) and do you have an injury slider?

          I start from All-Pro.

I keep the injury slider at default. I tend to like more injuries especially this year with ccm and developing players. It forces me to be more dynamic and it hurts to lose a guy I have invested a lot in. It just seems to keep me more interested in my franchise management having to deal with guys out. For example, Gresham went down with a broken jaw right after I cut a TE and I loved having to react since it forced me to not use my TE as much that week in the passing game.

Unfortunately online to get the added xp. Wish I could do it offline because my isp likes to cut out on me. If I'm having a 10+ tackle game at MLB and I lose it to a disconnect I am going to lose it in more ways than one.

Re: Dogslax41s Sliders for Casual+ Players

When I've had the user Pass Reaction slider set under 65, I've found that the CB's in a Cover 3 always run forward instead of dropping off into deep zone. It becomes a "money" play for the CPU to go deep. At 65 they seem to drop back into their proper coverage.

Have you noticed anything like this with your set?

Re: Dogslax41s Sliders for Casual+ Players

The only time I get beat deep is when I leave my corner on an island. As long as I leave safety help over the top it takes an elite speed receiver and high deep ball accuracy QB for me to get beat deep. I've seen Rogers and Stafford throw balls with a rediculous high trajectory and the ball just drops in over my corner, but that takes a perfect throw that even they hit at most once a game.

If I play cover 3 I tend to back my DBs up anyway because I never play cover 3 unless its third and long or near the end of the game. So I dont know if not backing them off would still cause the issue that you are seeing.

Just starting up a game, I'll post a box score when finished.

My initial concerns are that ratings won't matter so much for the CPU with the QB Acc/Brk Tkl/WR Catch/Pass D Reaction/Pass Rush so high. Are you able to tell the difference in the caliber of the player you are facing?

Thanks for posting these. I just played a game where the Cowboys ran the ball on every first down they had except for one, and then followed that up with another run play about 80% of the time. It negates any fun/realism this game has to offer, so I'm hoping that these can help alleviate that frustration a lot of us are experiencing.

I've almost played against every team in the league using these sliders and have seen stars play like themselves both in the passing game and in the running game. I was extremely dissapointed in the demo because I felt like very team played the same but I am definately not experiencing the same thing with these sliders. Let me know how it goes. I am anxious to see how these work out for others.

Alright, tried my first game with these sliders, exactly as they are in the op.

This game was played in my test ccm with the Seahawks, week 2 vs. the Cowboys.

Since I complained about the run-pass ratio before I will start with that. It was a decent mix early for the Cowboys, a little predictable with running the ball frequently on first down early, but abandoned that in the 2nd half once they were down a couple of scores. Overall, they ran 10 rushing plays on their 21 first down attempts.

Not bad, but I wish they were more aggressive on first downs earlier in the game. A nice thing to see was that they came out and ran the ball on 3 first down's in a row - And then later in the drive, on the 4th first down attempt, they ran a nice PA Pass that Romo completed to Witten for 25 Yds. Most of the players on my D bit on the fake leaving Witten wide open, pretty awesome.

Romo wasn't automatic, which I was a bit fearful of with the QB Acc being so high for the CPU. He was still good for the most part, and took some risks down the field that resulted in an INT and a couple of close calls, which falls in line with him playing like his real life counterpart. The other INT he threw was off of a screen, my DB was sitting in front of Austin and he still tried to force it in there. Ugh.

With that said, I was pretty happy with the CPU passing game overall, I just wish the Cowboys were a bit more aggressive.

Overall there were 5 drops in the game, very reasonable. One each for Edwards, Tate and Austin. The other two came off the hands of Demarco Murray. Oh, and Sidney Rice had an awesome jumping grab in the end zone off of a goal line fade, so it was nice to see him utilizing his size in the red zone.

I was not happy with the Cowboys rushing attack, a lot of this could be attributed to the fact that the majority of their runs came out of predictable formations and downs. Short/no gains on 1st and 2nd down led to a lot of 3rd and long scenarios for their offense. 23 rushes for 52 yards overall from their RB's.

Human passing felt good, a solid amount of over throws and off target passes from Russell Wilson. He also completed a string of 7 straight completions, so it was also nice to see him be able to get in a rhythm and string together some successful tosses.

Human rushing might have been a bit overpowered. I know the Seahawks are a great running team, but I had a few injuries (in week 1) on the offensive line and had to plug in some pretty poor offensive lineman. On this same note, I didn't think the Cowboys got enough pass rush on my depleted O-Line.

There were a lot of things I liked about the game. The pick six and a red zone interception were definitely the turning points, so I think it could have turned out differently despite the lopsided final score.

I'll keep testing these out man. Thanks again for posting them.

Edit: Forgot to mention - I had a FG attempt and an XP attempt that were both shanked, they went a total of 5 Yds each. The game was played in the rain, I just thought I would let you know since you mentioned on the OP that you experienced some anomalies with special teams in rainy games.

Also, FWIW, I did see Dez Bryant get in at RB for one play. It was only one play so it wasn't a big deal, but I thought it might be worth mentioning.

skow, how'd you get the boxscore to copy so nicely?

Whe I filled it out and copied/pasted it, it came out strange looking

Haha I'm not quite sure man. I'm assuming you're using the OS Table Generator? I just copied/pasted the HTML address it provided in a response after creating the box score.

Same sliders as OP. I played as the Seahawks in my test CC.

I don't have time for an extensive write up.

Started off with more of the same. Lot's of runs on 1st down by the Packers which proved to be ineffective, yet they kept on turning to it. Their initial 5 1st down plays were all runs. 7 of their first 9 were runs, 8 of 13 total in the 1st half. That led to a meh offense for the Pack. Lots of 3rd and longs.

It was a defensive game until all hell broke loose in the 3rd, when the Pack started turning to the passing game often. I suddenly found myself in a shootout and Russell Wilson was GAME. Crazy numbers by both QB's. It was quite fun!

CPU run game continues to disappoint. I was happy to find myself struggling on the ground, BJ Raji and Charles Woodson were making themselves noticed, disrupting plays in the backfield.

Eventually pulled this one out. If the Packers would have just been aggressive out of the gate then I would have most likely lost this game.
