Anybody else throwing a bazillion picks?

I am not complaining, all of these picks are my damn fault, new defensive AI is trickier. I'm just wondering if anybody else is throwing a ton? I threw 7 INTs my first game, and consider a game with 1 or less a spectacular game lol.

Enjoying the game so far, however auto subs being broken is really frustrating.

Yeah, LBs have the softest hands ever in this game. They make some pretty incredible grabs.

2 with Sanchez and 3 with Tebow... in 3 quarters lol. Some were my fault, but the cpu jumps routes like crazy. With the cpu defenders getting through your blockers with ease and the DB's STILL cover your receivers to perfection... it's no wonder picks are happening every where.

I was throwing about 3 a game with Matty Ice but I'm down to 0 or 1 a game in week 15

I haven't had a trouble at all, but I can see what you are talking about.

I'm telling you though, if you don't mix up your plays and keep the defense guessing, you will throw a lot of picks. Different plays and formations on different downs will do the trick.

Re: Anybody else throwing a bazillion picks?

I threw one against the Skins and 4 against the Panthers. Most were LBs cutting infront of my out routes.

I'm not used to passing in Madden. I've been using coach mode. I see an open reciever on the left side and instinctively press square even though it's my TE or HB. :/ Need some practice.

I'm playing on 25 CPU Interceptions now. All of the LBs usually bat the ball down now but I still get picked when throwing it deep. I must say though out of context, Nick Toon is going to be a great replacement when Colston retires. He gets nailed my Jon Beason and doesn't even drop the ball and even successfully trucked a few big guys.

Re: Anybody else throwing a bazillion picks?

i haven't thrown that many picks at all mainly because i cant get a throw off w/o being sacked. To the guys throwing pics w/ Sanchez and Tebow....that's not tricky defense tho. It's extreme realism, true to life. If it's in the game, it's in the game.

I don't know about a bazillion picks, but I threw about a million picks.

Is it me or does this happen frequently in this game? I'm going to try turning the sliders down. I've noticed a big difference between online and offline ccm. More picks are being thrown offline.

I'm having the same problems with out routes too. That's why I posted a thread on here earlier. My receivers will beat the db and I'll throw a good ball yet they still jump in front and pick it off with a boost.

And you are right on Toon. He's been brilliant for me catching and breaking tackles.

Roger Goodell can take away our top draft picks but we still get good players. Who Dat.

I'll just say this one more time...and let others agree with me because i know its true. I have already seen a few threads on this as well...use the search feature in the forums for more input as well.

You gotta get down the passing system and stop making bone headed passes...if you throw a ball in the NFL that is reachable by the defensive back..he's gonna pick you off with cat like quickness...this is where a good QB makes good completions because for one..he does not throw a hasty ball..he waits until his receiver is open and throws..but most importantly...a good QB knows how to put good trajectory on a pass..whether it means lofting a ball over his WR allowing him to run down that long pass..or passing the ball out of reach left or right from the defensive back...or quickly letting loose a bullet pass before the DB catches up to your WR.

EA put in the new passing system that takes a bit of time to get a feel for it...but once you do... you will absolutely LOVE the new passing system.

When i first got the demo..i was getting picked left and right..when i got the retail..same deal..but than i took some time to check out this new passing system even though i played NCAA13 plenty of times and kept at it..now if i see a linebacker at the 20 yard line and my WR at the 25 yard line..i can loft the ball gently over the LB reach only to watch my WR snatch the ball with room to run..i love it. Also when doing post routes..i always stay patient in the pocket..wait until my WR starts getting a bit of lead away from the DB and i will toss it outside of the hands of my WR using the stick and applying the correct pressure to the button....you gotta give it time..there is nothing else you can do but that and even if you came from NCAA 13..it still feels different than NCAA's passing system..maybe because we are dealing with NFL players that have a bit different kind of gameplay..not sure but i have NCAA 13 too and its like i had to relearn the new passing system in madden 13..even though i played NCAA13 quite a bit.

If you are getting picked...you are not making smart choices in passing and/or you have not fine tuned the new passing system enough yet.

I was seeing 5-6 picks a game...now i go through entire 6 minute qtr games with zero interceptions a lot of games...when i do have interceptions in a game..i always look at the replay and its usually my own darn fault..just like real NFL football. The quality of your QB makes a big difference too..you may want to up the slider for passing accuracy if you are having trouble with mediocre QB's.

How can u wait for routes to develop when theres no time to pass? Did you change the sliders? The defense gets to the QB too fast.

Re: Anybody else throwing a bazillion picks?

I have plenty of time to pass in shotgun and 5 step drops.

But on those quick passes and slants, the OL doesn't even attempt to block and I have it on 100.

My main issue is staring down recievers and I hot route basically all recievers to ins and outs. All of the default routes never develop before I get sacked.

I throw the ball around 32-40 times a game and probably 90% of my passes are 4-8 yard catches with no yac because plays never develop fast enough. Occasionally I'll some deep posts with Lance Moore but that's if the Safety doesn't automatically catch up with him.

This is a very good post...I do love the new passing system. Like I said in my original post, I almost never feel like I got cheated when I get picked. I'm still getting use to it, but one of the things I have to keep reminding myself to do is wait for the receiver to break and build some separation.

In previous games, I would throw as the receiver was breaking, or just before...if you do that now, you'll get picked if the DB is reading the QB/Ball and not the receiver.
