I'm still trying to figure out how Michigan is ranked #8 other than a reason for the TV networks to take the hype to mass hysteria.

Re: #8 Michigan vs. #2 Alabama
You stop him by not overpersuing and keeing your lanes, make him make lateral moves so he can't get his straight line speed to kick in. Michigan State and VT held him in check last year and Alabam has twice the team speed. I think he's going to get hit early and often if the go out and try read options right off the bat. He'll have to show Bama he can throw the ball early or Michigan is going to get rolled.Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment

Re: #8 Michigan vs. #2 Alabama
TV networks don't vote in the polls.
It's a combination of name, winning a BCS bowl last year, winning double digit games last year, and returning a lot of skill position players. All reasons preseason polls are rubbish.Comment

Re: #8 Michigan vs. #2 Alabama
If you didn't watch them last year and saw they won 11 games and had a senior QB heisman candidate starting, you'd think it would make sense.
If you watched them play last year you'd realize they had a lucky horseshoe in their helmet or stuffed somewhere else. They only had 170 yards of total offense in the Sugar Bowl against VT and scored their TD's basically on Arm Punts that the WR came down with. If they get a few bad breaks this year, they could lose 4 games with their schedule.
But that said, I would say outside of the top 4, its really hard to say how everyone will do. But if you start in the top 10, you basically get a mulligan on an early loss.Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment

Yes that's how you stop him, but that doesn't mean it's easy to prepare for him.You stop him by not overpersuing and keeing your lanes, make him make lateral moves so he can't get his straight line speed to kick in. Re: #8 Michigan vs. #2 Alabama
Its never easy to prepare for him because you need sure tacklers esopecially if the team lacks speed ontop of executing the plan. If the team has speed, they can afford to let Denard get by the first guy as long as they slow him down. I just have a feeling you won't see Denard running free. I think there will always be someone forcing Denard to make a first move whether that person makes the tackle or not and the closing speed for the Bama players is better than anything Denard has ever seen.
If Denard doesn't have to make a move he's gone against anybody.
Looking forward to seeing what happens here. Win/Win for me. If Michigan wins, strength of schedule goes up, B10 gets some credibility. If Michigan loses, hopefully Bama added some more blueprints on how to stop Denard.Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment

Re: #8 Michigan vs. #2 Alabama
I am leaving bright and early for Dallas tomorrow morning. It`s going to be hard to sleep tonight, thankfully there is plenty of College Football to watch tonight.
If Michigan is going to have any chance then Denard is going to have to play lights out. He needs to throw the ball like he did against Nebraska and OSU. Michigan is also going to need to force a few turnovers.Comment

Re: #8 Michigan vs. #2 Alabama
From the previews I've seen Bama's defense isn't that complicated. They do simple stuff and just put their players in position where they out-talent their opponents. They're not going to give anyone else a blueprint on how to stop Denard. Its never easy to prepare for him because you need sure tacklers esopecially if the team lacks speed ontop of executing the plan. Re: #8 Michigan vs. #2 Alabama
People keep saying Saban is too prepared, as if Denard and the rest of the offense has been picking their noses the past few months. I bet they'll have a few tricks of their sleeve.Comment
