Trading is seriously broken...
Ok I understand that trades in the NFL are rare as is, but this game takes it way to far. I was messing around in my CC as the Dolphins HC. I thought I wonder what I can get for Jake Long. Maybe get younger. Not only did the CPU offer jack crap when I put him on the block not one team offered a LT in return. Shouldn't that sorta be a given? But I decided to just try to make a trade. I offered the Colts (who put a bid in on the trading block btw) Jake Long for Anthony Castonzo & a 3rd Rounder. They declined. Then I came back with Jake Long for Castonzo straight up...declined. Then I thought I wonder what they will accept. I offered Jake Long and my 2 first round draft picks for Castonzo and they declined. There isn't a team in the NFL that would decline that trade. They really must patch this in some way.Tags: None -
Have you ever thought that the dolphins don't want jake unless it's real cheap? He probably doesn't fit their scheme well. -

Why would a team offer an LT for an LT? Player for player trades are rare in the NFL and it's even rarer to see players at the same position get traded for each other.Ok I understand that trades in the NFL are rare as is, but this game takes it way to far. I actually think this year's trade logic is much more realistic than previous years. Whether or not it's more fun, on the other hand is a totally different discussion...Comment

Yeah bro, I really think youre reaching here. Maybe the Colts dont want to pay a left tackle an insane amount of money, maybe they like their LT, who knows man. I can't fault the CPU for declining a trade that, at its core, is dumb to begin with"Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Re: Trading is seriously broken...
I use very realistic trades. and Ive had ZERO issues. in fact, I freaking love the trade logic on draft picks of that current year(when you dont go and play with it and screw the system in a way). I have offered 2 1's and a 2 for a top pick and been turned down, lost out on my qb. missed out a DE because it rejected a move up from 7 to 4 in another scenario.
I think its broken if you want* it to be. but if you play it legit, its not. my complaint is simple, you shouldnt deal this year's late 2nd rd picks, for future 1's, thats just silly. so its like, if you are playing and decide to go and do that, well you are a tad cheap. I dont do that kind of stuff, as I dont think having any more than 2 first rd picks is remotely realistic360-Chiefs-)Comment

Re: Trading is seriously broken...
You should go take a look at Long's contract....that could be why they won't accept. The other posters are right about him possibly not fitting their scheme. Also, Costanzo is a 2nd year player that was a 1st round pick right? I doubt they'll move him that soon into his career.Comment

Re: Trading is seriously broken...
he is still a young player and cost millions less, why would they trade him for an older upgrade.Ok I understand that trades in the NFL are rare as is, but this game takes it way to far. this does not need to be patched, your trade ideas on the other hand doComment

Re: Trading is seriously broken...
If the Colts aren't interested in Long then why offer picks for him when I put him on the trading block? Obviously they want to upgrade that position if they are willing to give up picks for him.
I also hate the fact that we don't know how much money is going back and forth. The old Madden's used to have the salary counter on the top.
Also why is it that when we put a player on the trading block can we not tell teams what we are interested in getting? I tend to always get the same offers from the same teams over and over.Comment

Re: Trading is seriously broken...
Teams rarely ever trade a player for player. It is usually just a player for a draft pick. There are only a few instances in NFL history in which a trade was player for a player. So no it isn't a given.Comment

Re: Trading is seriously broken...
I agree player for player trades in the NFL are unusual, especially at the same position (last I recall is the Eagles trading DE Clemons to Seattle for DE Tapp), but I also agree that reality and fun factor go in different directions here. I would love if the NFL did more player for player trades like in other sports. That's an enjoyable part of other sports that is missing from football. So, yeah, I'd like to be able to make reasonable player for player deals in Madden.
And, you folks questioning whether the Colts would take Jake Long and two firsts for Costonzo? Unless Costonzo has become the best LT in football, who wouldn't do that deal? Long's signing bonus would even disappear, so the Colts would only have to pay the salary. I'm not saying it should be patched, but, c'mon, there is no rational reason the Colts would ever turn that deal down.Comment

Re: Trading is seriously broken...
Okay I just started a Online CCM with the Seahawks. In the 1st week of Preseason I had like 8 teams make me offeres for CB M. Trufant. Even though some teams offered more draft picks, I dealt him to the Colts because with the roster set I am using they don't have V. Davis. Rather then having to give up a 2nd round pick in real life, they only had to give me a 4th round in 2013 and a 7th round in 2014.
However I do belive the trading can be over difficult at times. I tried putting Jackson on the trade block and even though there are like 8 teams looking for a QB, I couldn't even get a 7th round pick in either year for him.
Also tried trading several young CB (Adams, and Smith) both rated 70 and couldn't get a single draft pick. I am talking future 6th or 7th round picks.
Then after seeing the Hawks released Winslow, I thought well I rather trade him to a team and at least get a pick. I had several teams, (Jet,Giants,Raiders,Broncos,Vikings and even the Bucs) offer as high a 2nd round pick. I ended up selecting the Broncos 3rd round in 2014, because I felt like with adding Manning they have a win now attitude and would be looking to upgrade over Tamme or Dressen.
However I fell like the logic really is only looking at Overall ratings right now. I hope it gets fixed with a patch.
Also I don't understand the CPU to CPU trades at all. The Steelers traded. I. Redman to the Panthers and he automatcially became their #1 RB with D. Williams now their #3. (would never happen in real life) and the Saints traded P. Thomas to the Bucs and he became their #1 moving 1st round pick and stated #1 HB D. Martin to the #3 role behind L. Blount. (Again a never would happen in real life) move to me.
So far I have been overally happy with the players I have seen released into FA, and some of the FA moves have made since (Browns deciding on a 1 yr fix at QB signed McNabb to give Weeden a yr to grow), Shockey to the Raiders.
Again maybe things will change when the new roster set comes out, but I sure miss the ability to overide a trade, and ablity to control all 32 teams so stupid trades don't happen.Comment
