How can I make legend players free agents?

I would like to put Jerry rice and Montana on San Francisco and emmitt, irving, dieon, on the cowboys, is this possible?

Anyone have an answer? With all the legends you'd think it would be logical to be able to control them, if you can't play with rice and montana together then what's the point? Someone please confirm this for me, I can't imagine I'm the only one who would like to do this.

Try retiring and then start as them in the same CCM, then switch back.

Short answer is no. EA answered this question a few months ago.

I really wish you could put a legendary player on a team, and then coach him instead of being forced to play as the player. IE put Rice on the 49ers, but control Harbaugh.

Thanks I'll try the retiring option, what a waste of the legends if this is not possible. EA should take tips from 2k on how to incorporate legends in to a game. Is it at least possible to use Montana and rice on the same team with your ultimate team with 49'ers jerseys?
