Re: OS Fact or Fiction: Is Madden for Real This Time?
Yup, I had that. I've still got the green one (where you could pass) and it actually still works.I still prefer Madden 12 and consider it to be the best NFL game ever, but the reality is that Madden has been "for real" this gen since at least Madden 10. The kids and younger adults today don't have a clue how good they have it. When I started playing football games they looked like this:

Re: OS Fact or Fiction: Is Madden for Real This Time?
It's not for real. As usual, it's a good idea that is way under cooked. If they had finished the game by properly play testing it and fine tuning it, then it would be for real. But as usual, they want to sell us half a pie at full price. I can't take it anymore; I've given up on them completely at this point. My score for Madden 13: 4.5/10
3 points for graphics, 1 point for the passable commentary, and a half point for the boxart. I can give no further points since the all over the place gameplay would ruin it anyway.Comment

Fiction! Although, u gotta give em credit this year for trying.... I'm no Madden fan at all but I keep playing it this year, the last few years, I've either quit playing by now or not even bothered buying it... I can actually say this game will hold me over until Oct. 2nd...and I'll continue I play it afterwards....just not as much... Now that it seems they're heading in the right direction with the game, let's see what they do going forward.... Will they just keep putting out this same game or will they get the bugs out, add to it, and make it better... Guess we will have to wait and see.....Memphis Grizzlies.....
TN Titans....
UK Wildcats......

Re: OS Fact or Fiction: Is Madden for Real This Time?
We shouldn't even get mad at EA for having the exclusive license. Bottom line is they saw a opportunity to monopolize the market, and they did. Any company would had done the same. We should be mad at the NFL for giving them the only rights to make their brand. The only way the EA will let go of the license is for the NFL to dismiss them. The only way that will happen is for the sales to drop dramatically. Which won't happen because EA can wrap up a terd, with a madden name and NFL logo and some folks will still be in line at midnight.
I hate David Stern and his ugly teeth but he did all of us a favor by not letting any one company represent his brand. EA tried to secure the NBA exclusive license too. Stern told them to kiss his azz and now we have one of the best, battle-tested b-ball games ever created with the 2k series. A series that is solely responsible for the death of NBA live, elite, whatever the hell EA wants to call it.
The best Maddens were on ps2. The reason they were the best was because every year, they had a rival company making a NFL game too. They had to step up their game every year. Now, they can sell us a broken, bugged out piece of crap and we have no choice but to buy it because its the only NFL game out. No Madden in ps2 or xbox history had as many bugs as this game has on release. NONE....
That says it all folks.Comment

This is a tough call so I'm going to chicken out and not give an answer. I do like a lot of the improvements but there are also a lot of issues in this game that make for a frustrating experience. From some sliders not working right to no editing to the cpu running way too much on first and second down - I find this version of Madden extremely buggy and unpolished. I'm going to pray a patch cleans up a lot of things. It's annoying me with some things right now but certainly has the potential to be the best football game ever imo. That said, real foot planting and true player momentum would really take it to another level next year.Comment

Re: OS Fact or Fiction: Is Madden for Real This Time?
As somebody who was extremely apprehensive of buying this game pre-release I have to say Madden is rather successful in all fields. The number one thing holding it back right now, imo, is the AI/difficulty/slider bug in CCM.
Bugs will always be in software like this when but when this bug disables the challenge of an entire game mode and honestly is terrible because the play now AI is fantastic. The accelerated clock glitch is annoying but it is not quite as crippling, though it is up there, as it ruins multi-player games where AI teams are still present the most. Thanks to LBzrules: So these threads won't be forever lost.

See that's my whole problem with EAs Madden, If they could make a game as good as MLB The Show or the NBA2K series, I wouldn't give a sh*t if it were the only game in town. But at this point, this game is kinda lame. I mean no offense to the devs and I'm sure none is taken as they probably get paid pretty well over at Tiburon but does competition drive a studio to produce a high quality game or is it just dedication and raw talent? Cause if I'm not mistaken EA hasn't had an NBA game for 3 years and 2K doesn't seem to give a flying f**k about when their game drops or even that it exists.Last edited by Humdinger80; 09-06-2012, 06:13 PM.Comment

Fiction no doubt. I agree with what Jayson said. EA just can't seem to deliver a football game that plays well and like a football game.Comment

To quote The Seattle Times' Seahawks beat writer Danny O'neil, when he was discussing the list of the greatest QB's of all time... "This is about as meaningful as explaining why Batman is better than Superman."
Look, Madden NFL 13 is a good game. It can be a great game with the right sliders. I've played this more than I've played the last 3 Madden's combined. But, it isn't on "SGOTY" level just yet... but yes, it's for real, as far as laying down a foundation for future games.
But, we need to stop comparing Madden to other sports games, and just compare it to football. Now, does Madden properly replicate real football? In some respects, yes. In most other respects... the jury is still out.
But, I'm actually looking forward to what they do in the future...jWILLComment

Re: OS Fact or Fiction: Is Madden for Real This Time?
Madden 13 is fact for human v human. A blast. A great time playing against friends in the same room, or a bunch of buddies in an online CCM.
The game is a win in that department.
It is pure fiction offline vs the CPU. A train wreck for the most part and in need of a major patch job to make it playable till Madden 14.
So this game is truly a tale of two cities.
It is crystal clear it's all about online.
And offline has become a true second class citizen. Now Playing on PS5:
CFB 26 Hurricanes/Fresno State Year 2
MLB The Show 25 - 2025 Yankees Year 1
MLB The Show 25 1985 Yankees Year 1

This isn't the place for political talk, or for opinions delivered straight from the Fox News teleprompter. Let's get back to Madden Talk...Originally posted by GuyinPA75Fiction. 100% Fiction.
Madden at this point is Obama. Said a lot, promised alot. Really had us as believers. But delivered on way too little of Hope and Change.
Us football fans are now open to give crazy unproven knockoffs a try like a Romney. If 2k get back into the running for making football games. We will listen and watch what that Romney has to offer. Maybe bring back the heyday of football.jWILLComment
