Re: NHL 13 Season Ticket Impressions
Played a few more games and I've now got game speed at 1. And I you can definitely still feel the speed of the game. I feel that I'm getting pretty close to finalizing a slider set.Comment

Hey Gags...
Are you seeing what some others are seeing? That the ease of reception/pass accuracy sliders have little to no effect on the cpu.1969 NFL ChampionsComment

Re: NHL 13 Season Ticket Impressions
Unfortunately, yes. I posted this somewhere about how this is the biggest disappointment for me. The pass reception slider states that it sets how easy it is for a player to receive a "hard" pass. So you never see pucks deflect off of the CPU's sticks on a routine pass. Kind of frustrating, but nothing new.Comment

Re: NHL 13 Season Ticket Impressions
Hope that someone who makes sliders, is a person who has season ticket(or got game early).
I really see just how diff NHL12 and 13 are. I used my NHL 12 sliders on NHL13 and it was like a completely diff game. NHL13 is for sure way faster.
I had so many shot attempts but so many missed too(and I still finished with a high shot total)
There's some things about my NHL12 sliders I liked on NHL13, but also many things I hated(such as the fact that the speed of the game seemed way too fast, even when game speed was on 3).
I had game on Pro mode though, so I'll go to all star like I did in NHL12 and see how things are(though on pro mode, using NHL12 sliders on NHL13, I still lost 2-1 lol, despite having 30 shots, and they had 19)Comment

Re: NHL 13 Season Ticket Impressions
Do in-game stat screens exist? I've played a few preseason games and have yet to see one. I realize that could be because I'm in preseason.
The immersion factor is a major deciding factor to whether or not I will buy this game. Without those in-game stat screens, every game will essentially have the same bland and boring feeling. Its nice to know there are 29 other teams out there in your dynasty. It's essential to be provided with that information on how other players or teams are doing around the league.
So to any of you that have started your season in Be a GM, are there any stat screens while you are in-game?Comment

Re: NHL 13 Season Ticket Impressions
- I tried skating directly up the ice with Oshie and I was quickly taken off the puck within a matter of seconds. Plus!
- I absolutely LOVE the new skating engine. Momentum is a HUGE factor. I had a play where I was trying to cut off the angle of a Blackhawks forward and I skated right by him as I couldn't stop on a dime.
- There are so many nuances to the skating engine. There's definitely a weightyness to the players. Again, momentum plays such an integral part of the game. Also, being able to gain speed and skate up the ice only to stop and see a spray of ice is so freakin' sweet.
- The CPU is aggressive as all get out! They absolutely controlled the first and second periods. Shot after shot. But it wasn't as if they were just shooting to shoot. They were looking for angles and trying to move the puck aggressively.
- Commentary is relatively the same, but the overall presentation in my opinion is much much better. They focus in on a player and show some highlights throughout the game.
- Some of the player's faces are so life like. I didn't think they could look any better from last year, but they definitely do.
- The lighting is just about perfect.
- In between periods is really cool. Maybe this was in and maybe it wasn't. But you can literally watch video replays of a goal from the previous period, a big check, a big save, etc. Plus, the way they have broken it down to see your shots is very cool.
- Still not impressed with the atmosphere after a goal is scored. The camera switches too quickly and you don't get to see the players congratulate one another on the ice. Again, you see the goal scorer skate down the line of the players on the bench. Pretty weak IMO.
- Dump and chase is alive for the CPU, but it really seems to have benefits this year. I can see myself using it as well as it really is difficult at times to get set up for a scoring chance.
- The game sounds amazing with surround sound.
- I might have been a little quick to say the CPU seems to set up offensive plays. They more times than not will shoot from just inside the blue line. I seem to recall that being an issue last year. It doesn't happen all the time, but they are shot happy from there.
- After playing Madden, the one thing that sticks out is the lack of emotion from the players. Besides goal scores, they players have this blank stare on their face that looks rather creepy. Madden at least gives you some player emotion here than there. It'd be nice to see frustration after a missed opportunity on goal.
- What or who is Tim Hortons? It's plastered on the ice in every arena I've played in and it's on the boards as well. Takes away the athenticity of the different arenas.
- Besides the skating, the deflections are one of the bigger things that jump out. Really gives the game an organic feel.
- Penalties are a major concern at this point. I maxed them out and didn't see one penalty in the last two games I played. 6 minute periods. Not a good sign, especially after the lack of them last year.....what gives EA?
- There are some graphical glitches here and there between stoppages of play. Without going in to detail, they're not difficult to miss.
- At least to me, goalies are a bit too effective. I've had to lower goalie reaction and it seemed to only help a little.PSN: sportdan30

Yeah, it is disappointing. I guess we can only hope that EAC responds this year about this issue [with a tuner] if enough people mention it.
But very glad to hear overall your digging the game.

Re: NHL 13 Season Ticket Impressions
I agree the lack of penalties to me is a major concern. Not to mention it's a huge part of the game of hockey obviously. I love the tension of trying to kill off a penalty, and vice versa love the opportunity to try and score with a man advantage.
EA......this was a major major complaint last year, so why is this not fixed???????PSN: sportdan30

Re: NHL 13 Season Ticket Impressions
im liking over all. but im disappointed in some areas (not game breaker, but still important IMHO).
1. Lack of penalties (i play AS/HC with maximum penalty sliders, CPU and CPU teammates as well)
2. In NHL 11, we have the home ice team can match the lines by knowing what the visiting team is putting in. In 12 its absent was so disappointing and now its not present here in NHL 13. Cmon EA this is not new.
3. I got more excited in the broadcaster saying "SCOOORE" (i scored the winning goal in 0:47 in 3rd, breaking a 2-2 tie) but the teammates are so "isolated" in their celebration...pathetic!!!
I'll try the BaGM tomorrow.
** but so far i like NHL 13 than 12. so its just a matter of buying this game on the 11th or wait a month or 2.Last edited by canucksss; 09-08-2012, 01:22 AM.Comment
