Re: NHL 13 Season Ticket Impressions
Played 4 games last night in BaP. Have to say that there's little annoying thing, but overall, now I have a feel every game is different and I've yet to curse like crazy about the AI sending me a pass 15 feet wide when I'm wide open. Remember, I'm playing with 45 to 60 overall juniors, so in comparison with last year, this is huge. Makes the game really fun that the flow is great.
This game, with sliders adjustments, custom music, commentators off is pretty fun. I was tempted to lock myself out, but the negotiations are going well and I might pick up the game on 11th! :-)"Ice hockey is a form of disorderly conduct in which the score is kept." - Doug LarsonComment

Re: NHL 13 Season Ticket Impressions
You know, the whole, "We've worked more on AI this year than the past three years combined line." doesn't seem apparent to me. The game is good, and it's better for sure, but I just don't see a huge leap by the cpu opponent or my own teammates. Maybe that statement refers to what they had to do to get the cpu to play a somewhat competent game with the new skating engine.Comment

I disagree but I understand your point. For me, the AI completely ruined NHL 12, so anything that would have given me a clean game where the AI is passing the puck with more precision and don't do dumb things all over the place would have been fine. You know, the whole, "We've worked more on AI this year than the past three years combined line." doesn't seem apparent to me. There's a lot of improvements to be made on the AI side, but to me, NHL 13 and NHL 12 aren't in the same class as far the AI's concern. Then again, maybe it as more to do with the struggle I had in NHL 12 than NHL 13 beeing a HR! :-)"Ice hockey is a form of disorderly conduct in which the score is kept." - Doug LarsonComment

The AI made 12 very tough to play at times.I disagree but I understand your point. For me, the AI completely ruined NHL 12, so anything that would have given me a clean game where the AI is passing the puck with more precision and don't do dumb things all over the place would have been fine.

I agree that the AI this year has made this game much better.
13 is a huge step forward in just about every department, from AI to the presentation. It is in no way perfect, everything has glitches. But that will change with updates and tuners.Comment

For non-Canadians, Tim Horton's is Canada's blue-collar, non-snobby, non-hipster, less expensive version of Starbucks. They are probably the most prolific food vendor in Canada. Named for a former NHLer, they originally were purveyors of coffee and donuts but have expanded to offer other foods and beverages. A popular local hangout for small towns, big cities, and a frequent stop or hockey teams and parents during tournaments and early morning practices.Comment

We have them here in the States also, just probably not where the poster lives. For non-Canadians, Tim Horton's is Canada's blue-collar, non-snobby, non-hipster, less expensive version of Starbucks. Gonna try lowering the learning slider on Pro and see if that helps me maybe win a game. So far I'm 0-6.Comment

That's nothing more than an aggressive, persistent general manager, like Garth Snow. It's on me. I shook his hand too hard. It was a hard ... kind of a slap-shake.

Re: NHL 13 Season Ticket Impressions
One thing you can do to resolve frame rate issues with certain cameras is to make a custom camera that cuts off that part of the crowd so it doesn't display during gameplay and cause frame drops to occur.
Just fiddle with the custom camera settings and you should be able to eliminate any camera-related frame rate stutters.Comment

I noticed there are EB Games ads, too.For non-Canadians, Tim Horton's is Canada's blue-collar, non-snobby, non-hipster, less expensive version of Starbucks. I believe EB Games no longer exists in the USA (they are all Gamestops). They are exclusive to Canada now as far as North America goes.Comment

Re: NHL 13 Season Ticket Impressions
I am very impressed with the new context-specific commentary they added for replays and end-of-periods.
The commentary during live action is mostly the same as usual, though. I am already hearing many of the same lines that have been in the game for 4 to 5 years now.
And of course, there's that whole thing about Bill and Gary having not called a NHL game together since before the 2004-2005 lockout when ESPN still had the NHL's television rights.Last edited by jyoung; 09-09-2012, 11:06 AM.Comment

Re: NHL 13 Season Ticket Impressions
Played a quick game last night. After skipping last year the game feels fresh again. The sounds during gameplay are incredible it seems both NHL and stepped it up in this department, and mixed with the true broadcast it feels like im watching a real NHL game on tv. I have season ticket for PS3 but tried the demo on 360 and hated the controller, defentally prefer the PS3 controller for NHL.Comment

Re: NHL 13 Season Ticket Impressions
Just played winter classic. The lighting on it is great. Makes me wish EA still made MLB games lol.
2 days ago I lose on PRO 2-1.
Yesterday I won on all star 4-2
Today I lose on all star 3-1
Games have been great so far. Minus the lack of penalties, it's been good. Still need to do some slider adjusting(players on both sides lose pucks way too easily, and shot totals are too low for CPU, and need to adjust amount of goals:save ratio so that sv% end up being normal)Comment

Re: NHL 13 Season Ticket Impressions
Didn't have a lot of time with it over this weekend, but overall, the AI, despite some quirky bugs, does give the game a new lease of life. Now every game doesn't feel the same, which is in and of itself a huge improvement over 12.Comment
