I'm the worst F1 2012 driver, ever.--

Not really an F1 fan but is the Austin, TX track going to be in the game?
Edit: I saw that it is...pretty sweet.Last edited by Scott; 09-11-2012, 10:12 PM.PSN-Shugarooo

Re: F1 2012 Demo Available Now For 360, Tomorrow For PS3
I've followed F1 since the late 1980s. You're telling me nothing I haven't known for years.
You've also missed my point: Last year's driving model didn't properly simulate the amount of grip provided by an F1 car, especially in high-speed corners where aerodynamic grip is at its premium. The cars still felt like they were on ice with no assists.
This demo's driving model produces a ton of grip without assists, but only in the rear end. So the car feels strangely unbalanced, as if the front end is being washed out by dirty air from a leading car even when running on a clear track. The cars just don't track properly in the corner. There are bags of aero and mechanical grip in the rear but neither in the front.
Odd.
Regarding braking, carbon-fiber brakes provide much more stopping power than engine braking, as you well know. The ratio isn't even close. And this demo does a poor job of simulating the incredible stopping power of modern carbon-fiber brakes. I have attended F1 races in which cars traveling at 185 mph don't hit the brakes until about 80 meters before a 65-mph corner, and the cars make the turn with ease.
There's no way I'm buying a wheel for an Xbox 360. I already have a Logitech G25 for iRacing, and that's enough of an expense. Too bad it's incompatible with a 360 without a Rube Goldberg accessory.
I just based what I said off of what you wrote. Yeah you really need a wheel like James said to really open the game up. If you can get it on the PC, the mods are just sick for the pc.
I wish my pc could handle it but can't.GT: BIG CAROLINA23

No problem, dude.
Sorry if I jumped down your throat. Unintentional. I was still a bit hot because the 360 demo really disappointed me after I had so much fun with F1 2011, and I shouldn't have lashed out at you.
Thanks.Xbox Live: pk4425Comment

Once I finish a lap without spinning out four times into the gravel, I'll be happy.--

I'll give 2012 a good amount of playing time and will most likely adapt to the driving model. But I'll have no problem trading it in after a while and getting 2011 back if 2012 doesn't do it for me.Comment

I'm going the pc route as well. Have my Logitech Momo at the ready, and the mods alone will be worth it.Comment

Re: F1 2012 Demo Available Now For 360, Tomorrow For PS3
tried it on PS3, deleted it from the PS3, got it on my PC, will be buying right away. So much better than the 2010 version, and everything feels as good as it needs to be for a game like this, they will never make it as good in the physics as iRacing or other top games, they have to make money.
Been having a lot of fun running monza 5 lap races, DRS and Kers really make it fun, nothing worse than getting blasted by a train of DRS with nothing you can do. Really fun game.Comment

Re: F1 2012 Demo Available Now For 360, Tomorrow For PS3
I think I'm in love.....
Downloaded the PC demo, maxed out the graphics, and only stopped playing to give my thoughts here..(after 2 hours, lol)
As a raw rookie, I went easy settings, most assists on. Passed the challenge, no problem. Then the real fun began....
Started the "wet run". Wow-----are you kidding me!!?? I can see the raindrops on my car! Thought that was too sweet for words....and when I spun out into the grass, I actually saw grass blades on my rear tires! Not only that, but the glare coming from my opponent's side mirrors----good grief! It couldn't get any better, could it? So, graphically, this game is absolutely beautiful! And my PC can handle the load, with no lag or slowdowns. Can't wait to see the retail version, and the progressive lighting they're promising.
Then I went into season challenge. Ugh, always starting dead last, and trying to pass my "rival" proved daunting. The best I've done thus far is 19th...
I love how the team owner welcomes you aboard, and the press release talking about the hire as well. And from what I've seen in past versions, the career mode actually feels like a career mode! From interviews to news, it seems to immerse you into the F1 world (just like they say!)
Ok, I can't drive too good. I have no idea if the cars feel real or not. All I know is, I couldn't STOP driving! I never felt bored, nor did the game ever get too easy for me. Unlike Nascar Season 2003, I never felt I could qualify pole every race, nor go from last to first in 4 laps. Nothing against that game, but I found myself getting bored because of those reasons I mentioned. (Offline only player here)
The F1 AI doesn't seem too bad, not too aggressive, but not too passive either.I've been passed many times, and they bump my tires sometimes to go by.
Overall, I KNOW this will be a first day buy for me, (PC), and I'm what you'd call an extremely casual fan of the sport. I know Shumacher and Button, and that's about it, lol. Don't know all the rules, nor the tracks. Can't wait to see what mods become available!
One question: The replay feature in the demo seems confusing. How do I play back a full race, for example? Seems I can only do portions of it, and the controls are weird...I press F3 to play, and it plays in super slo-mo. Thanks for the help.
Awesome game!!Last edited by Segagendude; 09-17-2012, 02:52 AM.Comment
