Re: PES 2013 Reviews In
Yeah not a good decision but it is one i can live with.
Here is an article on pesfan about the boots and he makes it sound like it is not as bad as we think:
As for the RPG elements though it is similar to what EA did with Madden this year IMO so I can live with it personally. The gameplay is too good to overlook

Re: PES 2013 Reviews In
The IGN review is funny.
Negatives are Lacklustre soundtrack (which can be easily remedied with your own custom soundtrack)
Steep Learning Curve (To me this is actually a positive. You mean I have to actually read the instruction book, please no!)
Licensing (Which can be fixed with a good option file.)
I know it is IGN, but still just irks me that they never seem critique/praise correctly.Comment

Personally I have never owned a PES title. I downloaded the pes2013 demo and OMG this is the most complicated sport title EVER!
To the point that it is ridiculous! It is like they wrapped old school street fighter control scheme to a sports title. HORRIBLE in my opinion.
I love the game play more than FIFA by far but would never purchase this game based on how crazy the control scheme is.

But those are pretty fair criticisms. The steep learning curve really isn't but the other two are. Although option files are available, they aren't part of the game and requires the user to fix. Same thing goes for the soundtrack I suppose. The IGN review is funny.

I also hate the default controls, but I change it to the way Fifa has it setup and its much easier.Personally I have never owned a PES title. I downloaded the pes2013 demo and OMG this is the most complicated sport title EVER!

Thanks man. That was a pretty solid read. Like the article mentions though it would have been at least nice to see the AI just use normal shoes.Yeah not a good decision but it is one i can live with.

I still wonder how the game is coded for the AI. How will AI teams earn Konami credit to buy shoes? I'm still a little cautious with this mode. Especially with how different ML games were from exhibition games. But the solid gameplay is too good to overlook and not buy the game. Even if it means frustration and selling it back down the line.Comment

I enjoyed that they used music from the game's "lacklustre" soundtrack in the background of the video review. The IGN review is funny.

Re: PES 2013 Reviews In
No problem and I agree with you. I have concerns as well because the ML is always harder but when Adam first posted it he only acquired 4 pairs of boots in his first season. We obviously don't know how the AI will acquire stuff but if it is the same rate it may not be bad. The gameplay blows Fifa away this year based on the demos so there is no way I am not getting. Still going to get the Fifa early relase to see how much it changed but I honestly don't expect much difference especially in the CPU AI but we will see. Thanks man. That was a pretty solid read. Like the article mentions though it would have been at least nice to see the AI just use normal shoes.

Re: PES 2013 Reviews In
Surprised that people find the controls so difficult. The only buttons I use is x for short passing, circle for long passes/crosses, square to shoot, triangle for the through ball.
If you can't see the forest for the trees, take a step back and keep it simple. The more advanced controls will come, but don't try to learn everything at once.
The only tutorial I spent time in is the one for defense. Which is much improved over 2012.Last edited by LingeringRegime; 09-17-2012, 05:50 PM.Comment

I agree but I then again I am use to PES controls. I still haven't grasped the advance controls yet but my manual passing has been getting really good.Surprised that people find the controls so difficult. Re: PES 2013 Reviews In
Yep. I love the manual passing with all assists off. This will be the first year in many I will only have one soccer game. (knocks on wood).
