That sucks. I spent many a sick day home from school watching Steve Sabol in the Super Bowl highlight shows on ESPN.

All of us here at @nflnetwork are crestfallen and mourn the loss of the genius and iconoclast Steve Sabol. May he rest in peace.

Yeah they just announced it on NFL Network. Rich seems to be nearly fighting through tears.

So sad. Here's one of my all-time favorite NFL Films vignettes:

 Re: RIP Steve Sabol

It really is hard to imagine NFL Films without both Steve and his father Ed. I just hope it never loses the vision which both men put forward, both worked so hard to achieve.

In a way.. NFL Films also loses a little bit of its magic just because of the passing of Steve.

Throw your rivalries and match ups out the window. The next week should be spent honoring the Sabol name.Comment

 Re: RIP Steve Sabol

Very sad day. He started my love of the history of the NFL by doing the intros on the old "This Is The NFL" 25 or so years ago. He practically did everything at NFL Films from writing the scripts John Facenda so eloquently read to giving the ideas to what he wanted Sam Spence to use for those iconic songs. He just seemed like a regular guy that loves football. Like me. R.I.P.The New England Patriots cheated to win four Super Bowls.Comment

 Re: RIP Steve Sabol

I think that's one of the reasons why we're all going to miss him so much. He wasn't one of these owners or someone who just did it for money, he did it because he loved football. And football loved him.He just seemed like a regular guy that loves football. Like me. R.I.P.

He was just one of us, a fan of the game. Just watching NFL Network, seeing Rich Eisen almost in tears.. I'm finding it hard myself to hold back.Comment
