Personally I think ratings should be based on a players skill . Then his individual tendencies on his talents should give him his rate . An 80 for Allen is high tho he can't jump anymore he's slower and he turns the ball over alot more . His ratings should have drop drastically . But that wouldn't make him any worse of a three point shooter . He's more spot up at this point of his career . So an overall 75 to 76 would make more sense because he does less nowadays . That's just me . Check my edits after the game launches gt: POP THAT SPLIFF

The LA bias continue with 2K...How can Butler have a higher rating than Paul George and probably Batum?

An 80 overall rating in NBA 2K doesn't make you a star. Not even close.

No. He was revealed to be 79 in the leaked screen shots, but those were most likely from over a month ago. The 2K tweet came just a couple days ago, revealing Hibbert to be 86.

Just because you feel it, doesn't mean it's there.

Really dude? You're going to start throwing out numbers.. Anybody that knows anything about basketball knows that Ray Allen is one of the very best shooters of all time PERIOD!

overall is does not matter, tendencies - is what matters

but anyway Hibbert is too high and Chandler is too low

                  Why?

Nate at 77 seems fine to me.

Terry at his age and his production seems fine to me.

I don't know why it's a joke, that's why I'm asking. Because Nate can play basketball, just check out what he did last year with GSW. I don't feel the need for those 2 to have a higher ranking or even lower.

Wait wait wait!!! KD is rated less than Howard??? How can be possible???

If LeBron is 98, KD should be almost 96 (maybe 97)...

Howard at 96 is the death of videogaming...

                        Except, that's not exactly true.

The overall rating is a reflection of a player's all-around game and abilities, including offense, defense, athleticism, intangibles, etc. If we look at player A and can easily determine that their overall game (weighing all their various ratings) is clearly better than the overall offense/defense/athleticism/intangibles of player B who plays the same position, then the overall rating should reflect that. That's why LeBron clearly has the highest overall rating of today's players; not because he is the best shooter or the best defender, but because when you weigh all his various ratings, he is clearly, overall, better. That's why it is dumbfounding when certain players are clearly better OVERALL, yet have lower overall ratings.

I can understand how someone's athleticism might spike their overall rating compared to a similar player who isn't as fast or doesn't dunk as well. Sure, that's going to bump someone's overall up a little. But many of the rating disparities seem off even when taking those things into account (ie Dwight Howard compared to the best centers of all-time, or Melo compared to other superstars with more dimensions to their game, or Bosh compared to Amare or Hibbert.)

And, in the end, it is a reflection of their individual ratings, it affects Association logic and cannot be adjusted for online play, so it does matter.

Just because you feel it, doesn't mean it's there.

In the future, 2K should just give us an option to change the overall number without touching any of the attribute ratings. I think this would solve a lot of problems - no?

I agree, some people say the overall has no effect on the game but that is really only true in quick game..

Or just change it to where there is no overalls.. Give everybody A,B,C grades and to pick their playing status- starter, 6th man, role-player, etc... As of right now you could change a player with a 50 overall to "star player" or whatever it is and he would still be shoved to the very end of the rotation simply because of his overall..

Serge Ibaka should not be just 81, it's because of the defensive player of the year and his performance in the olympics. The Rating for Roy Hibbert is ridiculous, he's even cannot be compared to skills of Serge Ibaka. Example is when Serge Ibaka got 11/11 field goal against Spurs last season, Roy Hibbert never done that in his entire career. Don't be mad at me Hibbert fans.
