Obviously their best technology isn't good enough to make a playable game of basketball. EA, stop bull****ting. At least you know you ****ed up and realize people aren't stupid enough to buy a game from you just because of updated graphics and an EA logo, can't say the same for Madden fans unfortunately. I guess it took them a whole gen to realize gameplay is the core of a great game. I still don't get why they didn't build off of NBA Live 10 or start developing Live 13 as soon as Elite 11 was cancelled. I like how 2k won't let up on the gas, even though there are simple things they seem to overlook in their games. Well, if anything, there's always next-gen. I think the technology will be at a point where developers can't get away with their usual excuses and profit-seeking or holding back for the next year will be exposed much more easily. Honestly, we're paying $, we're not stupid to waste $ for a **** product. It's like game companies forgot how to make money making good games instead of trying every which way to squeeze money out of us smh

I wasn't even going to buy the game anyway, but still this is an failure of epic proportions.

Surely this is the end? There is absolutely no creditably left with the franchise

EA can repeat this exact process for the next three years and people will still buy it. Not because it's great, but because its different.

EA better venture to the College Basketball fan base. Then they would not have to go head to head vs 2k in NBA. I think that's their only hope for a game with a basketball and a hoop.

Not necessarily. When you release a game you are expected to make a certain amount of money and if you don't meet those numbers your product is more or less a failure. Plus with this game supposively being a digital release they dont lose money that would have been spent on manufacturing the disc n such. I don't see how they lose money by spending an extra year to develop a game unless they decide to start from scratch again. To be honest I think this is what the sports genre needs, a game that is developed for multiple years instead of releasing a product every year just to have something to sell.

Programming and animating costs money, and they still need to pay salaries.

But still, back to the main topic...

EA Sports love to spend money. It is not cheap getting a license from NBA and from the players.
Anyway, I hate EA. They are responsible for destroying gaming nowadays. Burn in hell, bunch of mercenaries.

I am against EA's monopolistic practices as much as the next guy, but a strong NBA Elite would help the basketball genre obviously.

That said, EA just don't make good sports games, with the exception of maybe FIFA. They need exclusivity in order to be successful whereas the other companies rely on good old-fashion addictive gameplay.

Thats the thing that is sooo odd about this whole fiasco. Really these other games have no real competition (PES Aside for Fifa yet they are very very good games. Madden is a different story but thats been an issue for a while. Why is it that Live has gotten the short end of the stick? Is it the dev teams? Is it the financing? Something doesnt add up here

Its sad that we went from around 10 basketball games to 1 in under like 5 years. How did that happen?

Man I loved NBA Live 10.
Thank you EA for messing this one up worse than anyone ever thought possible. These guys are just horrible. Cancel an NBA game TWICE in 3 years right at release time.

NBA Live has reached the point where it doesn't deserve a Forum on OS. This should be moved to Other Basketball Games.
