Change in Houston-The Coaching Career of Michael Smith

I ran into some problems with gameplay the last one, so i'll be trying a new career with Houston.I quickly found out that you'll easily be dominated in the AFC South if you don't focus on gameplay from the start. Putting points in playbooks and training is great, but make sure you can win the games first.

Coach Michael Smith is taking over the Texans from tiny Tradewind University. He's developed two very successful playbooks that have led to him getting a 48-5 record in his years there. The Texans are looking for someone to lead them to the Promised Land in a very tough division, so they gave Michael the nod.

    HC Michael Smith
    Personality-Commander
    Skills-Performance 4, Team Chemistry 3, Strategy 3, Playcall 3.
Special Skills-Charm, Charisma(to keep from getting fired).

Offensive playbook-Tradewind Special. Spread based-but lots of others as well.

    Defensive Playbook-Tradewind Surprise-4-3, 3-4, 4-2-5, 3-3-5, 46, Raiders Rover, 3-2-6, etc.

    Philosophies-all Balanced

    Sliders-48 User/ 40 CPU.

House Rules-none yet, but will keep an open mind.

I'll play all games and look to stay in Houston all 15 years.

        2008 Draft

First, a brief apology to anyone who has followed since my Change in Chicago dynasty. I've really struggled to find a good balance in gameplay since that one-I'll do my best to make sure this one really goes at least 10 years.

Now the draft. Once again I was able to get Rivers by trading up with the Saints-they really want Daniels. Trade 1st, then the 1st round.

        Trade:

Texans trade 1-18, TE Owen Daniels, and 2009 4th to the Saints for 1-10-draft Keith Rivers.

          2008 Draft-Remainder of Draft

Dunta became expendable with the signing of Nnamdi, so i went and traded him for the 4-98 pick. Only bad move has the GM urging Howard on me, he's already been cut. Trades first, then my picks.

          Trades:

2-42-Texans get this for ROLB Morlon Greenwood, 3-74, and 2009 6th.

4-98-Rams trade to Texans for CB Dunta Robinson and 2009 7th.

          5-132-49ers trade to Texans for 5-159, 6-184, and 7-223.

                  2008 Season-Game 1- Texans 27, Steelers 24

I was thinking this might be a easy win after we scored the first 24 unanswered points, but Ben and the Steelers really came on strong at the end. One of the key plays in the game was a INT TD by Asomugha. Good start to our season and my career.

                  DPOW-CB Nnamdi Asomugha-7 tackles, 1 INT TD

NFL note-Chiefs TE Tony Gonzalez-10000 rec. yds.

                    2008 Season-Game 2-Texans 48, Ravens 17

The Ravens offense played a good game-but they couldn't take care of the ball. 6 turnovers, 4 INTs, 2 defensive TDs, and a kickoff return TD provided all the win margin we would need. 2 straight wins-we'll need it when we play the division.

DPOW-FS Ken Hamlin-7 tackles, sack, FF, FR, INT TD.

NFL note-Panthers WR Muhsin Muhammad-10,000 rec. yds.

We played good defense, and we avoided the big mistake. That's all you really need to do to beat the Titans. Woodson went over 300 pass yds for the first time.

                        2008 Season-Game 4-Texans 23, Jaguars 20 (OT)

A really big win to pull this one out in OT over the Jaguars. Woodson threw a few too many INTs down the stretch, so I had to rely on Schaub and Serna to take this one into OT. A big game coming up next against the Colts.

                          2008 Season-Game 5-Colts 31, Texans 19

I never have much luck with the Colts early on. Woodson's 3 INT and 150 yds rushing by Addai was enough for them to win the game-will look to get back on track against the Dolphins.

                            2008 Season-Game 6-Texans 41, Dolphins 20

The Dolphins played pretty well the 1st half, but not so good the 2nd. I figured out SS Blitz shuts down the run pretty well, and my offense played much better the 2nd half.

The NFC North teams generally aren't much trouble after playing in the tough AFC South. A comfortable win as the Texans go to 6-1 on the season.
