Defensive assist slider and auto contest definately adds input lag to onball D control. Another good reason to not use it guys. Try to turn em off. They're both under the pad configuration menu.

Re: NBA 2K13 Advanced Controls
Is it still possible to use the shot stick to choose what hand you want to layup or dunk with?
Ive always been able to do it in the past but im having some trouble keeping the ball away from the defense this year. Did something change?Comment

Re: NBA 2K13 Advanced Controls
for some reason, i cant consistently do a Dropstep when i try and use the shot stick. most of the time, my player just does a hook. now i just use the buttons for that move and now i can consistently do a dropstep dunk with Dwight.
^^But that happens every year^^
I remember when they changed Alley Oop a few seasons ago. I was throwing oops by mistake for a good month lol. Every year they change something people practiced so hard the year before. Just need to re-practice lol
Thanks!!
Tomorrow I get my copy. Should be really interesting
and these are my friends who dont have alot time on thier hands. they cant play everyday. so when they choose to play, they just wanna jump right in and enjoy the game. so now there spending the first month learning the controls.
Thanks guys.
But I've seen in the control options that we can actually turn off the indication of wether it's gona be roll/pop/ or slip. So if we turn that off (when you're playing on the same console like I 'am at the moment) how can you get it right? If it's just a timing thing it's pretty hard imo.
Slip= hold the button for 1 second
Fade= hold the button for a 2 second
Roll= hold the button for 3 seconds (basically until he sets the pick)
yeah i turned down my defensive assist slider to 0"on hoping there is a PSN flash sale before Valentine's Day"
Man there are no flashers... now what are we going to do for vd
yea but will they take psn cards

For real man, I don't want to be too quick to judge because I know I don't have these controls down anywhere near as much as the old ones, but really not feeling it.Comment

Re: NBA 2K13 Advanced Controls
I can't understand why the left stick does the same moves as the right stick. They're making this more complex than it needs to be. It's really frustrating at times, especially when you're trying to do something specific.
How do I make left be left? It seems like left is sometimes up and to the left or whatever. I use 2K cam, btw.My score for Madden 13: 4.5/10
3 points for graphics, 1 point for the passable commentary, and a half point for the boxart. I can give no further points since the all over the place gameplay would ruin it anyway.Comment

Re: NBA 2K13 Advanced Controls
Guys you have to try the Lt with the shot stick. Wow the amount of moves are crazy. If you hold Lt and dbl tap the right stick there are so many moves unlocked its crazy. An its not as complicated as it may sound. Thats how you do the snatchback jumper the rip through jumper etc. Easier than doing the face buttons thats shown in the training camps. Try it for yourself in freestyle and see.Comment

Also double shimmy works 1/10. I can do the shimmy shot just fine, but the double shimmy rarely.
I love the new controls though. Changed L2 to trigger the dribbles.
I enjoy playing with ball handlers too much now.
I exhaust them in a couple of minutes. :PLast edited by batigoal9; 10-06-2012, 08:52 AM.Comment

Re: NBA 2K13 Advanced Controls
First, thanks for uploading the guide. I will say I've been going through the "training camp" and as a new player it does help you learn the moves. The key I think if learning the patterns of how the sticks, triggers, etc work together as there are too many moves try to memorize. The moves with the quick half-turns or double taps of the stick are the toughest for me to pull off (or the double taps of the circle button...too much like QTE which were the bane of my existence playing Resident Evil) But again, I'd recommend going through the training camp, especially if you're a new player. I'd also say pick the way you're most comfortable shooting (buttons or shot/dribble stick) and stick with that.Comment

Re: Control Map
Yes, the controls definitely take time. I was just doing the "post" part of the training camp and 17/22 moves weren't such a problem but where I get messed up are the moves that have things like "click the stick in this direction and quickly move the stick in the opposite direction or hold L2, move left and tap triangle. In the second case it will say "remember to hold L2" even though never released L2 or make sure you move left before taping triangle (I think it's one of the "face up" moves) Any tricks to getting these sorts of moves to be picked up by the system? It's very frustrating at times.Comment
