Is it time to do away with OVR Rating

Here is my reasoning..it changes depending on what kind of D or O u are running anyway..also..it's not like the coaching staffs in NFL have a list in front of them that says.."Tom Brady" is a 99..if u know what I mean..or at least an option

makes sense but they wont do it. 70% of their fans are probably not die hard fans or strategy fand and they all would complain that its too hard to build a good team or too much work having to study all the ratings.

I do think they need to improve the ability to compare players or scout players (not draft) to get a better feel on who to resign/fa sign etc.

I understand your point..or maybe better stated "their" point..however why not allow it to be hidden if we want it..no? I'm thinking no number ratings at all..I think as a quick example..speed just a 40 time, strength max bench or something like that, and so on

No it is more necessary than ever to determine how well players fit into a scheme and play style. While it's Bo longer anchored and the only rating to change, it offers a general assessment taking a crap ton of work out of the menus. This game without OVR would b an absolute trainwreck

And i agree with u..it would be a ton of work..but why not allow it to be hidden so if someone wants to go without it..with a bit more of a challenge let them..u still can have a screen that shows who is better suited for that type of D or O

I like this idea, would really force you to feel out each player and see if they work out for you instead of relying on some arbitrary number be the deciding factor whether you start player a or player b. players with high overalls play like crap sometimes anyway and some players with low overalls play awesome. Just got an undrafted free agent running back that has a 62 overall but homie is truck. Cannot be brought down even on quan all madden slider set.

I actually put this up on the gamechangers/idea website several months ago...it was not well received.

Looman has said that the OVR is what the CPU AI uses for trade value... thats why its the only attribute that changes when u put a player in a team with the wrong scheme.

APF2k8. No OVR, just abilities and tiers. Worked like a charm for single season mode, not sure how it would translate to franchise mode.
Example: I would not attempt a run to Night Train Lane's side of field. He was beastly against the run and would knock the dog feces out of a back due to his abilities and gold tier. This one small example shows how it made for a very realistic and organic feel to the system they implemented. What we are stuck with now doesn't give me that true ability and performance gap between players. I have no fear of any player or team. I'm all in for a "no OVR". I guess we shall wait patiently for another 2K football game to get that experience again.

I get that..but why not have an option to hide it..or switch to non-numbered ratings..the OVR value could stay within the game itself..or if people want it allow it to be shown but I think it would be cool to have no OVR ratings

Definitely. Especially with the schemes now along with traits, it just makes it all more confusing. Plus I got a 65 ovr WR (now 72) that's been threatening to break some type of receiver record for 2 years now. I'd like EA to try and make people think more and just take OVR out.

And this is a perfect example..if the OVR number wasn't there..u would just look at is numbers and say.."this guy is a stud" look..when TO was in his Prime..he wasn't the best route runner, never had the best hands, and has never been the fastest..but he just made plays..also helped he was huge and strong..

I'm for it aswell although each player does need a way yo determine value. Maybe gold silver and bronze? Or pro all pro and superstar? or maybe the value system currently can work but it should have the CPU base value on thirteen own scheme because a player that doesn't fit a scheme will be worthless to them but another team might strike gold with that same player. An vice versa

I like ur idea of name value maybe..special teams player/back-up/starter/all pro/super star..I do like the current system of scheme..I think that was a great add
