Personally, I'm a fan. Just playing with the Knicks the other night, the difference between Ray Felton running point and Jason Kidd running point was huge. I've also found myself hesitant to attack the basket with average players but will drive recklessly with someone like Tyreke Evans. They really set players apart. The only thing that sucks is you can't remove them from players.

So what's the verdict on signature skills?
I know there were some folks that were concerned about them, some that said they weren't sim, and some that felt like the rating system should do what they do. Now that the game's been out forever and everyone has had time to play with different players and teams, how do you guys feel about them?

I love signature skills .
Actually playing my Myplayer I've bought 5 signature skills before upping my stats ( testing this out ) and even though he's a 67 overall he doesn't play like it .Currently playing FIFA 2013 & DOTA 2 ( PC )

Re: So what's the verdict on signature skills?
I must say I don't even remember all the icons and don't remember/check what skills every player has every moment. But I do remember what they play like in real life, and they do pretty much the same in 2K13. And that's the most important thing for me.
So it's all good.My Specs:
ZX Spectrum
CPU: Z80 @ 3.5 MHz
GPU: Monochrome display
RAM: 48 KB
OS: Sinclair BASICComment

Yeah I'm not seeing it either and I would like to know if its online or offline
The brick wall will have to be a direct hit to make
the guy go down...
Ankle breaker is a weird one...it's like a bit of dribble move and you're able to drop the guy but when you do all kinds of move it doesn't do anything
Pick pocketer...mehComment

Re: So what's the verdict on signature skills?
Well I havent picked up 13 yet but the one thing I was reading in an interview with one of the devs made it sound like an assist.
For instance. I forget what the name of the skill was but it was referring to guys like Ray Allen. If a user is controlling RA and he receives a pass from a team mate and is wide open for a jumper you should catch and shoot more like Ray ALLen - you get a Bonus to his jump shot skill that overrides the fact that a user can have a poor release on the jumper. That is an assist plain and simple.
Funny enough, this actually goes into the argument of what people consider to be SIM. Like in Madden there are people who feel that not user catching is SIM because the cpu is using the guys ratings to determine if the wr should catch the ball or not. Visual Concepts seems to have gone into the realm of this type of argument over what sim is.
(For the record I dont leave ANYTHING to the CPU when playing a sports game and THAT is what I consider sim...CONTROLLING everything yourself)
All that being said I dont necessarily think that RA example I gave is totally a bad thing, IF RA is wide open for an easy 3 he is usually going to make it. I think ultimately in the future Visual Concepts will surely tweak the amount of user skill vs the bonus given to get to the correct amount of balance.
So for you guys who have it does that sound somewhat accurate or not?Comment

Re: So what's the verdict on signature skills?
On one hand I really like them. But there are some things that make me unsure. For one, I play with real player %, and I don't know if your shot stick timing has any influence on shots, though I play as if they do. Otherwise for me, it becomes too easy to sink 3 after 3 with good shooters once I become familiar with their stroke. So that makes the spot up shooter skill not mean much for me. But that's only one skill..so I mean, overall they're really good. I like the idea of 'Signature Flaws' that was put up on this board. That would be the perfect compliment to ensure the skills don't become too strong.Comment

Re: So what's the verdict on signature skills?
Through about 25 games, I like them. As someone who likes to attack the rim, I love the acrobat and finisher skills. It really makes a difference and separates a guy like Tyreke Evans from most other guys. My first thought was that they would be too overpowered, but so far I don't think that's the case. Anklebreaker is a little overpowered. I've only seen a guy fall 3 or 4 times, but I still think that's too much. Other than that, I like it.Comment

I find pressing up on the directional pad helps a lot. It brings up the icons and they light up when they are activated. It helps know what your teams strengths are.I must say I don't even remember all the icons and don't remember/check what skills every player has every moment. I'm loving them. They aren't overpowering but they do make a difference in the game.Comment

Re: So what's the verdict on signature skills?
Signatures skills are a cool addition, but I need the abilities category back in the game. It would be nice to know if a player is good, great, poor or average in the different shots in the game such as runners, step backs, hook etc. If you had the Creator Shot signature and the person had a poor step back. you'll at least know why he keeps missing it when the activation light goes on.Comment
