while you're on defense, hold down your left trigger (pre-snap) - you'll need to hurry. When you hold it down, you'll see some options:

down: run middle
left: run left
right: run right
up: pass

You don't need to raise the pass rush because it will have your defense cheat that direction. NOW: be very careful because if you choose incorrectly you could get burnt. But this helps to open up the running game if you select UP (pass). It also does this on NCAA football as well. Make good reads (pre-snap) and then use this as another adjustment for your defense.
