Re: Making of the Perfect Franchise and Draft Class

In theory, shouldn't I be able to export then import all of the NFL greats from Madden 12 into a Madden 13 roster file w/ the editor?

I apologize for all of these questions guys but pretty damn excited....I'm here at the job thinking about roster possibilities and not work haha

Yeah, I too would like to see if it can be done so that it just works out in the draft without extra stuff required. I'm hopeful it can be done and have a feeling it can be. If anyone wants to do the testing for picks set in editor versus draft outcomes right now, it would be welcome if you could share the results and findings. As I said, I have other things I want to get done, before taking this on. It's just too much console side time required right now when I can be making editor progress. But so far can see that projected picks in the editor are pretty close to actual results/outcomes.

Ummm... if I can find the fields ( which I think I know where they are and just misunderstood them ), we can take the steps in that post in the editor. I'll try to remember to check on this when I get home tonight.

I spent some time working on the projected fields and this is the firsts round from my first test:

          1. Titans-Barkevious Mingo/LB/LSU
          2. Bills-Geno Smith/QB/West Virginia
          3. Colts-Jarvis Jones/LB/Georgia
          4. Browns-Johnathan Hankins/DT/Ohio State
          5. Dolphins-Keenan Allen/WR/Cal
          6. Jags-Bjeorn Warner/DE/Florida State
          7. Raiders-Star Lotulelei/DT/Utah
          8. Chiefs-Matt Barkley/QB/USC
          9. Panthers-DeMarcus Milliner/CB/Alabama
          10. Bucs-Sam Montgomery/DE/LSU
          11. Rams-Justin Hunter/WR/Tennessee
          12. Lions-Eric Reid/S/LSU
          13. Rams-Luke Joeckel/OT/Texas A&M
          14. Bengals-Jackson Jeffcoat/DE/Texas
          15. Jets-Jonathan Jenkins/DT/Georgia
          16. Cowboys-Tyler Wilson/QB/Arkansas
          17. Eagles-David Amerson/CB/N.C. State
          18. Seahawks-Manti Te'o-LB-Notre Dame
          19. Broncos-T.J. McDonald/S/USC
          20. Cardinals-Tyler Bray/QB/Tennessee
          21. Chargers-Barret Jones/C/Alabama
          22. Steelers-Jonathan Banks/CB/Steelers
          23. Bears-Dallas Thomas/OT/Tennessee
          24. Ravens-Xaiver Rhodes/CB/Florida State
          25. 49ers-Sylvester Williams/DT/Tennessee
          26. Giants-Chance Warmack/OG/Alabama
          27. Packers-Tyler Eifert/TE/Notre Dame
          28. Falcons-Marcus Lattimore/HB/South Carolina
          29. Vikings-Robert Woods/WR/USC
          30. Patriots-Matt Elam/S/Florida
          31. Texans-Terrence Williams/WR/Baylor
          32. Saints-Kawaan Short/DT/Purdue

So overall, this is a pretty beastly draft class. Thumbs up to those involved. Whoever did the portraits did a very good job. One suggestion I have is Donald Browns portrait for Logan Thomas.

Awesome man, thanks for that. That does look pretty good. And appears to be based on need and overalls which is good. Any chance you happened to take note of the scouting projected picks before the draft? I think that the pick settings in the editor are mostly tied to that, and might not really hold any importance in regards to overall draft position. That 1st round looks pretty good, and thanks for the help and kind words. Also I'll look into Thomas portrait here later.

Also an update, but I've gotten all offensive skill postions equipment edits done. I intend to use generic equipment edits for all O-line postions. And will do all defensive skill postions, and top rated players for D-line. Generic equipement setting for later round D tackles etc.

EDIT* Curious, but did you leave the pick settings as they were, or did you adjust them prior to your results?

Yeah, I went through and redid all of the Pick round/Pick # based on my own personal rankings. So I changed Geno Smith, Barkevious Mingo, Johnathan Hankins, Matt Barkley, and Star Lotulelei to Pick Round 1/Pick #1, 2, 3, 4, 5 respectively and it yielded those results.

Sure, I was just editing a few ratings and such. Let me test it again and make sure everything still works, then I'll upload it.

I did another simulation just to test how consistent it was and here are the results:

                    2. Bengals-Bjoren Werner/DE/Florida State
                    3. Panthers-Barkevious Mingo/LB/LSU
                    4. Cardinals-Matt Barkley/QB/USC
                    5. Rams-Jarvis Jones/LB/Georgia
                    6. Dolphins-Dee Milliner/CB/Alabama
                    7. Rams-Eric Reid/S/LSU
                    8. Chiefs-Geno Smith/QB/West Virginia
                    9. Jags-David Amerson/CB/N.C. State
                    10. 49ers-Johnathan Hankins/DT/Ohio State

                    26. Titans-Brennan Williams/OT/North Carolina
                    27. Steelers-Tyler Bray/QB/Tennessee
                    28. Rams-Kenny Vaccaro/S/Texas
                    29. Falcons-Corey Lemonier/DE/Auburn
                    30. Patriots-Terrence Williams/WR/Baylor
                    31. Texans-Jonthan Jenkins/DT/Georgia
                    32. 49ers-Jonathan Cooper/OG/North Carolina

Aside from Tyler Bray to the Steelers, it was another solid draft. Anyways, I included the draft class I used below.

Oh okay, yeah I was kind of wondering, because I thought it strange that Smith would leap frog Barkley. But thats cool, so it looks like setting the picks will determine draft results etc, which is kind of cool. But at the same time, kind of sucks to as it takes all the fun out of it. I'm still curious to find out if all the players draft projections were nulled what might happen. Not that I'm about to go through and zero them all out, but if and when Xans editor allows it, I'll surely give it a shot to see what sort or results come of it. Thanks for the findings illQuille

Edit* So was this second run with the same exact set picks? If so thats a good variety, and I like that. Especially if Smith and Barkley are swapped on CPU decision. But about Bray, lets be honest More concerning is my Raiders taking Wilson, lol. At least they must have had a record setting season to be drafting at 15

Yup, the exact same. It was interesting to say the least. Barkley was the first QB this time. Justin Hunter and Robert Woods fell to the top of the 2nd round. So it looks like it won't be the same everytime.

To be honest, and only speaking for myself, I'm kind of glad to know this, as it gives it a bit of less automation which can suck, nice to know that a player might be passed up, or that a team will draft for positional need, as I can see some of those teams would need some of those players based off the stock roster thats being used(unless of course you changed that) Makes potential more valuable and a better sim franchise IMO, hardly fun if CPU takes best available just because of the math. Thanks man!

Have you guys figured out to correct body composition? The Johnathan Hankins in my franchise has huge pad/butt with little waist and thighs. Also, a majority of the QBs have a tiny torso. I would love to go through and edit those.

Yeah I intend to fix all models, however at this point anything you fix or add to the class will be for you or whoever you want to share it with from wherever you start. Because it's just not possible to work on the file anymore together. As it's constantly changing and importing/exporting is too much to handle(atleast for me on a time scale) But I've gotten most bodies adjusted, and equipment set for QB,RB,WR,TE,FB will do Lineman last on both sides of the ball. I'm mainly focusing on skill positions right now. In the next release version 2, all models will be good, as will all equipment with ratings adjustments of my own. These of course will be altered I'm sure by each person who acquires it to their preferences. But the offense has many players not in tune with the editor calcs, and should be closer. (As i fear having differences not close may affect progression).

IllQuille, I could use some help with determining throwing motions for all the QB's in the class, as well as tendencies for all players. If you were interesed, you could just post or PM me them, I could simply set and not have to consider/research, would be a big time saver on that project.
