    The Beautiful Game Thread

Kind of like the Off Topic Threads in the other sports sections here on OS, here's a place to discuss about the podcasts we listen to, the TV shows we watch, the books/magazines we read, the movies we watch, and the blogs we visit.

    ...............

Just noticed on netflix streaming that One Night In Turin and The Four Year Plan were recently added.

Both Sports Doc, Turin covers the England National Team leading up to and during the Italia 90 Fifa World Cup

The Four Year Plan, follows the day to day operations of Queens Park Rangers as they try to reach the Premier League.

    Solid flicks to watch.

    ..............

Anyone have any podcast to recommend? I haven't really filled the void WFD left when Cohen and Hassan left.
Don't you EVER read my blog? It's gotten a lot better.

I don't listen to podcasts, but I did want to suggest two great soccer movies:

    Mean Machine

    and

    Victory

If you haven't seen them yet, go watch them. Mean Machine is one of my favorites. Of course movies like Goal and Goal 2 are up there, then Goal 3

seen both one night in turin and the four year plan. Both are pretty interesting.

My personal favorite is Pelada. It is documentary of a couple traveling the world to play soccer in other countries. It really shows you how much of a grip this game has on the world and how much people love it. I think it is a must watch.

Far away from the bright lights and manicured fields, there is another side of soccer.

My podcasts of choice are the ESPN FC podcast and EPL Talk.

Both are fantastic. Gun to my head, I prefer the ESPN FC one, but you can't go wrong either way.

A real good footie movie is Fever Pitch (no not the Jimmy Fallon one). It stars Colin Firth who is obsessed with Arsenal.

Been listening to the ESPN one for a few years now. Very solid.

In terms of podcasts, I highly recommend Football Weekly from The Guardian.

I miss the old format of the World Soccer Daily show/podcast that used to be on Sirius.

It's now available now as World Football Daily with new hosts with a subscription, but it's just not the same.

SiriusXM is launching a 24/7 channel:

Launches Monday with "The Football Show" and will utilize existing third-party shows like MLSSoccer.com's "Extra Time" and England's TalkSport to fill time. Will also have live Champions League, EPL, and MLS game commentary.

It's not exactly about soccer (rather, it's more of a device to the main story), but still, I have a soft spot for the movie Sixty-Six. Delightful little film. Plus it's always nice to see Helena Bonham Carter outside of a Tim Burton movie.

I always loved Kenny, but Steven was...yeah.
