Should gameplay complaints come with disclaimers

I'm not saying a complaint isn't valid, I'm saying it would help us all if we had the info to distinguish whether it's the "game's fault" or actually user error or maybe someone is more of an arcade or sim player. Reason being is this: many complaints are simply inaccurate.

Variables like camera angle, online or offline, game difficulty, experience with the game, what mode, etc would all help clarify whether it's a legitimate problem with the game or maybe it's just the user...

I see complaints about rebounding but how many of those are using broadcast cam instead of 2k cam? Makes a huuuge difference in seeing the trajectory of the ball. Or say someone is playing on Pro and someone is playing on HOF, there's gonna be a huuge difference between CPU, etc. More info the better.

Agree. Most common one I see is how some people think everyone is hitting threes online at a very high percentage. I checked the top 100 offensive players and I think only 6 of them had a higher percentage than the best NBA 3pt shooting team.

So all myth there as far as I'm concerned.

Re: Should gameplay complaints come with disclaimers

I've always thought this and its the biggest reason I don't post that much. The biggest difference I've seen in these discussions is playing style. There are legitimate complaints but in the end its largely about how you personally are playing. That's why you see Group A with a certain complaint and then you get group B saying wth are we playing the same game?

I know I haven't had any of the issues that people have been complaining about. Not the fast breaks, not the offensive rebounding nothing its all spot on teams are getting 15-20 offensive boards a game on 12 minute quarters for me scoring between 85-110 points on average. In fact the only real issues I've had with the game are it seems the amount of fouls has taken a step back(it was already too few) and there were too many PitP but I fixed that with sliders already.

That said I mostly use player lock or sim CPU vs CPU so that by default would make my fundamental experience different. That's where I think the disconnect comes in. People aren't taking into account that the reasons and ways they're playing are going to make their experience different. That's not to say one way is "right" or anything its just that how you play intrinsically changes the experience you get with the game.

When people realize the constant moaning And whining doesn't help the better it'll get

No offense but some people seem to have add and can't take a game they can't conquer in 3 days

And it gets to the point where the same people are vomiting the same crap In every thread...it gets old

This is not your personal complain station it turns a mass of people away from here

Re: Should gameplay complaints come with disclaimers

There's a difference between game bugs and user error. 2k does have some bugs but most times ppl arent complaining about bugs/glitches they're complaining about
a)how some1 else is playing ie the CPU or ONLINE...or
b)what they think are exploits/problems with the game is really just a need for higher skill level...or better basketball knowledge.
          especially since around 2k10...
the only strategy needed to play is smart basketball.
something I've realized with next gen games.
they aren't just pick up and play. You have to at least have some knowledge of the sport.

Example. Im not good at football games. I used to rarely watch but when I started watching I starting seeing why I wasnt good at football games. The reason was because I wasnt playing smart football. I would pass on every down. Never knew about check downs. Terrible play calling. Etc...
You can't play these next gen sports games like that anymore although 2k13 has made it easier to pick up and play.

that's right, but when different people, playing different styles, different settings and different difficulties, all having the same problem, it means that there is a grain of truth....

NBA teams have to execute picks and plays to get those percentages. In this game you can just walk up the court, chuck a three and you're at similar percentages as Steve Novak IRL. This extends to all offense. Most games I shoot over 60% from the field, which is better than everyone in the league save for Tyson Chandler.

Have you actually played online this year? Just the amount of pull-up jumpers made from deep is ridiculous.

Re: The rebounding issue, if someone were using the broadcast angle what would be your suggestion? Hopefully not simply to change camera view?

There should also be a disclaimer for those who suggest there is NO problem. Are you playing MyPlayer where you are controlling one guy? That makes a difference for obvious reasons. Are you playing 5 on 5 where majority of the rebounds have nothing to do with camera angle in that the computer are likely the ones who will get the rebound whether on your team or the other team?

The error in rebounding within the 5 on 5 setting consists of several factors. For one, your AI teammates do not attack the glass at nearly the same ferocity of the CPU opponent. Another thing is that in a 50/50 situation where your players jump and the computer jumps for a rebound, it is quite common that the CPU grabs the board, even if its one of them versus three of your guys. Rebounding seems scripted. The CPU is already in the air for a rebound before your guys even know it hit the rim. This is an area where the new dynamic "physics" system was not applied.

Online is played on Pro/Default so of course you're going to be hitting crazy shots.

Hhhmmmmm....... Just counted all the threads in the 2k forum. And every complaint thread was justified. Ex. Rebounding, glitches, my player, fastbreaks, misspelled jerseys. All those are true.

Also in every complaining thread the member complaining says they love/like the game sans the flaws. Most still say the game is great even w/ the flaws. Those that don't say that, say this game can be goat if this is corrected. Maybe one percent say they are going back to 2k11/12. But guess what post gets quoted.........

Seems like you guys search and seek out the negative in everyone because they don't agree with you.

Seems to me there are more members who wrongly defend 2k then her are who claim the game has bogus flaws.

I told everyone in a post to wait till the "new toy" appeal wears off before making a judgement. It ain't as many complaints about members big up'n 2k before release or a week after.

I like the game but it's only so many times I can watch bogus rebounds or fast breaks and CPU running no plays. Having to hear a member say there is nothing wrong then critique my bball IQ against a game whose IQ is absent in large chunks of gameplay.

It's because people forget that it's a video game and not real life. After a while it just seems like nitpicking. We are never going to get a basketball video game that emulates how a basketball game in real life is played. Some of you expect way too much from developers in such a short amount of time.

and how many times can you say the same thing before it turns into a cesspool?

Who are you complaining to? Even babies stop crying at some point

What you guys do here every year is ridiculous. If the devs wants to find legit gripes they have to sift through 50 piles of complete crap to see exactly what the issue is

This site was at one point never about complaining but discussion, and then all the new influx of posters made it that much worse

Its at the point now alot of regulars don't even post anymore. What I do notice is that some people are playing the game flaws and all and having a blast, not going to message boards every day crying crocodile tears over losing a game because they don't understand fundamental basketball.

Honestly, what, after you post in the impressions thread, bugs glitches thread and every other gripe thread, then come in threads like this here... then what?

You are accomplishing nothing at all except people leaving you to stew in the negativity. I think half of the people here dont know what the heck they want. If you want to holler about 2k11 and 2k12 even though you complained about those too.. then play those games and be content. Nobody likes a bunch of males always whining

State your case once and move on

That's not the meaning of constructive criticism.

We are never going to get a basketball video game that emulates how a basketball game in real life is played. Some of you expect way too much from developers in such a short amount of time.
It goes both ways. People who respond to complainers have to pick there battles cause usually they get pushed in a corner and have to respond w/" you have to know how to play bball to play this game it's user error not the game" then when someone replies that this or that doesn't happen in the NBA then they respond with "it's just a game what do you expect"

You can't insult someone's iq or lack thereof then say its just a game. When you claim to be a sim game I feel you should take that backlash that comes with that title. Lol 2k aimt losing sleep and is only getting richer. While you are left to defend them. Were are the reps at, were are the developers at to tell us how to properly operate their game? can't be that hard to log in. They were here to sell it.

I don't know how much time they spend on any aspect of the game so I can't comment on that. But I know damn well they have enough time to fix things that have long been a problem in the series. Especially if they have promised these problems would be corrected. Am i wrong?

I don't think anybody is expecting anything 2k hasn't promised. Even in absent promises they had enough time to rework the game so they were able to make more money after the purchase price.

What do you mean it "means nothing". Would this thread have materialized if the tables were turned. If every member only posted about good aspects of the game and only complained about in a " oh by the way" manner? I doubt it. It will never be a thread titled"why all ther compliments? When basic fundementals of the game are flawed ?"

On one hand you guys may be right. Complaining is really not getting you that far. It seems the quickest things fixed were things broken in the release date copy, which 2k more than likely knew of. And it just a waiting game on the other patches and what they will offer.
