    Getting Hired

    Hey Guys,

This is not one of those "I can't decide so pick my team for me" threads.

This thread will cater to my Dynasty/Guide Book I plan to create and I want to take it in a different path. Rather than choose my destiny, I want to add the realism that relates to only 1 team offering a head coaching position. Few choose their team, and I want that same environment.

For the few who still post here, please help me and act as the collective owner who decides to give me a chance:

Miami Dolphins - Are fresh off the worst season in team history, going 1-15 and finishing nearly last in every category. They are searching for a new coach.

San Francisco 49ers - Once a proud franchise finds it's self 5 years removed from it's previous playoff appearance and needs to find success, fast.

Houston Texans - Entered the league in 2002 and has yet seen a successful season. Time is running out on Gary Kubiak as this team needs to form an identity of it's own.

Kansas City Chiefs - After a 4-12 season, the Kansas City Chiefs are thinking about replacing Herman Edwards and adopting a completely new philosophy of football. Starting a new might be too tempting to them.

Detroit Lions - Are a team who haven't had a good record since 2000 and hasn't made the playoffs since 1999. One of the few teams without a Super Bowl title. Rod Marinelli isn't bad, yet, but the owner is thinking of turning a new page.

Atlanta Falcions - Are rehauling the team and starting from the top. Mike Vick is gone and they need a new face of the franchise. They too, have never tasted victory in a Superbowl.

St. Louis Rams - Two superbowl appearances in three years made the Rams a near dynasty. Their stars are either gone or are getting old. They need a plan.

Cool idea. It might help if you gave us a very brief bio of "yourself"?
In other words, are you a rookie, coming in from the college ranks, maybe a coordinator that would like to step into the lead role or mayeb even a coach that's been out of it for a while, but wants back in.

    Who are "you"?
That might help a team decide if you're the candidate.

Happy to help you decide after that.

The short answer to that question, Winnipeg, would be that I am a defensive assistant who rose under Bill Billichick and the Patriot Way.

      The long answer would be...

      Spoiler

It might be important to also add that my name is Gregg Hammermill and that my brother, Gary, has been the Head Coach of the University of Michigan for the past 9 seasons. I'll likely try and coax him to the NFL ranks if possible

Very interesting man! I like it. I voted on the Rams cause I have seen many Lions, Chiefs, Falcons, and Dolphins. The Texans and 49ers are solid but I would want to handicap you with those teams. So lets do the Rams since they are NFC West and in need of an overhaul.
Won't change my sig until the Seattle Seahawks win the Super Bowl...wait, that happened ! Let's win another one! Go Hawks!!

I agreee that the Chiefs, Falcons and Dolphins are used often. Haven't seen many Lions but I will take your word for it.

I, myself, leaned more towards Houston or St. Louis. The thing about San Fran and Houston are, even though they are better than the others, they were added as teams who are often 4-12 year after year in careers I play. I figure they fall in the same "poor" category as well.

I'll leave this up for a little longer to see if a team takes off.

I wouldn't mind reading about the Texans but I would want to handicap you with keeping Alex Smith for the rest of his contract and not being able to cut him. Also making you start him while he is under contract as well.

Thats just because I want to see him succeed. LOL

From your coaches back story it appears you have some very solid pedigree. Military background, coach experience at a big college program, experience with two very successful NFL programs whilst being groomed by hall of fame coached like Dungy and Belichik.

From this I would say you are a pretty sought after coach and it wouldn't surprise me if all those teams gave you an offer. However, as a first time head coach would you go with a team with veteran OC and DC to help your transition? Or a team where you are given a lot of control over your staff?

                Thanks for the help guys.

As it looks as if St. Louis and Houston has offered a contract, I will make a decision and begin the guide. Appreciate the help. I would have never decided these two had it been my own decision so this in fact worked out well.
