    Switching Defense and Team Goals

I noticed that when I retired Lovie Smith from the Bears who runs a 4-3 Defense and created a New Coach with a 3-4 Defense, I noticed that the Team Goals remained the same and did not change.

So my DEs in a 4-3 scheme had season goals centered around sack totals while my OLBs were focused on total tackles. When I made the switch to a New Coach and the 3-4, the team goals did NOT change with it. I would think that in a swtich to a 3-4, the correct season goals for DEs would be focused on tackles and rush OLBs would be responsible for sacks. Given this, reaching season goals with the change in scheme would be extremely difficult.

Any idea on if this is addressed in the patch? Thanks.

My thought on this is (and Im not sure if this is true) defense players goals depend on the players individual scheme.

For example, if you have a 3-4 DE like Ngata on your team, he will want tackles regardless of your scheme. If you have a 4-3 DE like Jared Allen on your team, he will want sacks regardless of your scheme. Check the players individual schemes and see if you have any 3-4 OLB's. If they want sacks for the season then its working fine, if they want tackles, there is a problem then.

Also, try getting through an off-season and see if they reset then. Season goals are fully set the moment you go to the pre-season and do not reset no matter what you do.

Lastly, try setting positional scheme in the strategy part of the menus. Change the 4-3 DE preference to 3-4 run stopper, etc.

I think DemonicEnemy is right. It makes sense. I noticed before when I signed a 4-3 MLB to the Colts, who run a 3-4. I can't remember off the top of my head exactly what his goals were, but they were different from all the other MlBs I had on the team.
