Re: NHL 13 Be a Pro is broken.
I have no idea about your player dropping rating; but I know what you mean about your team not re-signing it's players. I just finished my first year with the Devils and before the season, and this off-season, we didn't resign Larrson, Zajac, and Henrique.
I know for fact this happens to whatever team your player is on because I saved before the draft and got drafted by the Coyotes and same thing there. It's not suppose to be like that I don't think, it wasn't like this last year, not to this extent. -
Re: NHL 13 Be a Pro is broken.
Be a Pro needs some work. The grading system is still arbitrary and shallow, simming games means automatic demotion, and hell you might still get demoted anyway even if you lead the league in stats and get picked in the third round. There are problems that have been there since NHL 09 and I feel like EA isn't going to spend any time fixing them; their focus seems to be pushing the online game, particularly EASHL and purchasing boosts online instead of playing for them. Besides, if anyone tries playing for their boost unlocks, they might just get frustrated enough by the brokenness of the offline Be a Pro that they buy the unlocks as well.Comment

Sometimes last year if you had boost packs assigned they would become unselected when the game started up. Other than that the rating thing sounds pretty wierd.Comment

I agree, played some NBA2k13 and the Career option comes with so much depth it is insane. there is a scrimmage, drills for points, interviews after every game the user plays. Two options play a game or play a key game. Then, because I suck at NBA, I was drafted lower so only was given limited play time. Not to mention all the customization. Suits for pre-game and interviews work out uniforms and accesories could be unlocked as well as signature skills or attribute points. Oh and during all that you could take camps from legends to improve your skill as well. All purchasable with the xp coins from the drills and your two week salary which was awesome your contract meant something not just numbers and a team.Be a Pro needs some work. EA really needs to get it's offline depth together or 2k will make hockey and they will win on depth alone.
My suggestion EA pay attention to 2k offline and 2k pay attention to EA online.

Re: NHL 13 Be a Pro is broken.
It's funny you say that, because 2k's hockey games *did* arguably have more depth in its offline games. Their sliders and attribute settings were much more customizable. It's a shame that no one bothered because they were turned off by the graphics or thought that the default sliders were too arcadey but didn't even try to change them.Comment

Re: NHL 13 Be a Pro is broken.
It's kind of sad that so much has been improved in this years game but BaP was left basically untouched. While the general improvements like skating affect BaP, it's obvious they've completely ignored all the bugs and problems with the game mode.
I too have had my Pro drop in ratings in the off season even though I've reached all the goals the coach has set out for me, and this was between my second or third season.
Regarding the lack of resigns I've noticed that too, but I have also had troubles with the "GM Brain" suddenly deciding that an obvious playoff contender like the Bruins suddenly starts to dump prime aged players for draft picks midway through the season (with a good record), when you add in the problem with lack of resigns in the off season, you get a rooster that's a complete joke. In the first year, the Bruins dumped or just ignored to resign the following players:
Chara
Seidenberg
Lucic
Horton
Seguin
Marchand
Thomas
Rask
So basically the core of the roster... The only addition I've seen is Ed Jovanovski.
I only caught a few of the trades in the player movement list in the main BaP window, and they went for draft picks and sometimes some random 65 overall to spice things up. The Bruins overall went from all 4.5 stars or better to 2,5 or 3 stars across the board. The first line is Krejci, Bergeron and Paille. Second line (I've asked to be traded tons of times so I keep getting demoted, anyone managed to be deemed "Proven" yet?) is myself (75 OV), Kelly and some 65 OV from the minors with no potential.
I've also been sent down even though I've lead the NHL in scoring, straight from the first line to the minors.
And finally, is it just me noticing that when you're playing a BaP game, if there's a stoppage and the cut scenes start going, you can't get the Coach Task window to open until the puck drops, even if you're mashing A to skip the cut scenes? I'm playing on xbox so that's the Y button that lets you sim to the next shift etc. It just refuses to respond, either until the puck drops or you go into the menus and back. It really gets annoying after a while.Comment

2K10 was an amazing game with the right sliders. People chose EA's NHL series because it was flashier, but 2K had much more substance. It's funny you say that, because 2k's hockey games *did* arguably have more depth in its offline games. Re: NHL 13 Be a Pro is broken.
Another issue I have noticed recently is after being promoted to the first line, the rest of the lines do not get adjusted in any way. I am the first like centre but that is the only line I get to play on at all. Sort of ****ty that you don't get onto the PP or PK at all.Comment
