    MLB 13 The Show Wishlist

Before I get to my wishlist, I would like to start out by saying this is the greatest sports game series I have ever played. It is the most realistic game and it has great graphics. Now to the list.....

    1. Broadcasting
If The Show series had one weakness, this would be it. Matty V has done a fine job all these years with The Show, but it is time for change. My first resolution to this would be difficult but it would be cool. That would be to have each teams individual commentators. So for example, teh Tigers would have Mario Impemba and Rod Allen as their commentators with the FoxSports Detroit scoreboard in the upper left hand corner. Other examples would be the Yankees having YES Network, the Red Sox having NESN, the White Sox having WGN, etc. Whichever team is the home team, they would have their broadcast package. If that is too difficult, my second resolution to this problem would be to have the national FoxSports broadcast package, with Joe Buck as the commentator.

    2. Road to the Show
This is a great mode but still in need of edits. One problem is the advancement goals. When you are a minor leaguer or in your first few years in the majors, the current ones work fine. But the real problem is when you are 28 years old, locked into a long term contract, 99 overall, and having MVP stats, you still use the same system as you did when you were in the minors. If I fail goals, I should not be benched because of it. Instead, I should be sat for a few games, not TOTALLY REMOVED FROM THE STARTING LINEUP. Also in the offseason during a contract year, if I am a MVP player, I should have a bidding war basically to get me. In my RTTS, I was 25 years old, coming off a Triple Crown season, eligible to sign with any team. In real life, a player like this would have MANY teams offering a contract. My player only received offers from the Yankees, Rangers, and Blue Jays.

    3. Franchise mode
Yet another great mode. My first thing is offseason free agency. The majority of the time, there is not very many good players out there, which is nothing like real life. Last years offseason featured Prince Fielder, Albert Pujols, Jose Reyes, and more. This offseason will have guys like Josh Hamilton, BJ Upton, and Andre Eithier. I have NEVER had this kind of talent in a free agent class in my franchises. The second thing on my list is the contracts. I'm tired of having almost EVERY player on my team on a 1 year contract to start the season. I highly doubt that that many players are hitting the free agent market this offseason. So the contracts should be fixed so that the amount of money that a player wants correlates to their stats, not ratings.

    4. Diamond Dynasty
This mode disappointed me to tell ya the truth. The creation of your team is great. Its the rest of the mode that is the problem. First, you should either get rid of Dynasty players, or get rid of the MLB players. It should be one or the other. They both shouldnt be in there. Also you should take the Create A Team mode and make it so you can create a team outside of DD. So like you could use them in Exhibition mode or Franchise mode. Also add a stadium creator, similar to the one in MVP Baseball 05.

    5. Rosters
My guess is that probably only about 20% of people use the SCEA rosters. Most people use OSFM or Scotts re rated rosters. One thing to fix this is to get the REAL minor league players. I know that you currently do not have the license to do that, but why not try to get that? Another thing, make the players batting stance/pitching motion actually look like the players ACTUAL batting stance.

    6. New Leagues
Add new league modes such as the Arizona Fall League and the World Baseball Classic

There is my wishlist, if anyone at Sony/SCEA reads this, please consider my ideas. If you have any questions, feel free to message me. Thanks!

This has been posted before but more customization of players has one thing that I wanted.

Also I think it would be pretty cool to have a custom stadium creator for Diamond Dynasty

I have to agree with maizeblue13 on his first point regarding commentary. If they could model the use of stats and in game commentary after the other baseball game, then it would be almost impossible for any other company to knock them off the top spot!

Instead of always talking about garden hoses, sand wedges, and "bout time boys", try commentary that is actually baseball oriented instead of school yard commentary. With 2k not producing another baseball game, get that MLB Today technology and make it better. Yes, it would probably complicated, but it would add more value to the game.

Actually, the one year contracts are generally correct. That's because they're either arbitration eligible or renewable. They're still under team control. If you go through the off-season, you'll see there are different times to deal with each group.

There is no license to get for the minor league players. We're able to have actual major leaguers because of the license with the MLBPA. There is no equivalent for minor leaguers, so SCEA would have to negotiate with each and every single player (which obviously is quite a prohibitive task).

OK I can understand that but its a pain in the *** to have to resign EVERY player on your team after the first season. If they are under team control, then why not make the contract that long?

Re: MLB 13 The Show Wishlist

My wishlist deals with ratings for players mainly. I don't think there are enough.

For instance, there is no way to identify a good doubles hitter in this game. I love what the OOTP series has done by instituting a gap rating for hitters. Guys like Joey Votto, Dustin Pedroia hit close to 50 doubles every year. They should be recognized for this skill in game. Hitters like these generally hit the ball harder and thus have a higher BABIP. Thus, they should hit less pop ups and weak ground balls than other guys.

Pitchers need ratings vs lefties/righties also. I don't understand how they don't have this now. If a pitcher is weaker against left hand batters loading your lineup up with lefties is a strategy seen in baseball all the time. This would probably not be difficult to implement, as you could just use ratings already in place like K/9, BB/9, etc.

More stable online play. Online was improved this year, but it's still not where it needs to be. Baseball is a great game online when lag is not present, playing against another human is much more enjoyable than playing against the CPU imo.

I can't think of much else to be honest, it's a fabulous game that just needs fine tuning.

Because that's how major league contracts work? Team control does not equal actual contract.

It will be interesting to see how this game turns out.

With the Astros moving to the AL and the new playoff format, people are going to buy this game no matter what.

Because of that, IMO, it would be great if the details were the main focus. Specifically i would love to see them spend a lot of time on offline Franchise mode.

Re: MLB 13 The Show Wishlist

I want more customization for players, specifically:
                    • Different fitting jerseys (Tight - Dan Uggla, Loose - Jayson Werth, and normal)
                    • Unbuttoned jerseys (Brian Wilson, and 1000 other players)
                    • Chains, Power Balance Bracelets
                    • Brands (Nike, Under Armour)
                    • Longer Wrist Tape

Honestly, if the game got these things, i would not even care about what else they did, as long as they change the standings and playoff format.
                    That's just me though.

Yes one thing I should add to my list is having brands in the game (Wilson, Rawlings Gloves)(Nike, Under Armour, Franklin batting gloves)(Nike, New Balance, UA, Reebok, Adidas cleats)
Make the equipment as in depth as it is in Madden 13

As a guy who loves franchise mode to death, I would love for it to be a little more realistic in terms of sending guys down to the minors who are struggling in the show. Also, as a guy who takes the draft very serious, I hope you're able to draft players and add them to your roster as soon as they're signed.

I would like to see an improved PAUSE function in online play. When one player pauses, the other should be able to work the menus instead of just staring at the ticking clock.

                            A couple of things.....

                            1. Player traits/signature skills- Do this like in NBA 2K13. Traits or skills like leadoff hitter, big bat, clutch, Ace, leader, etc. things like that. This might help keep our lineups straight too. If I have someone with a leadoff trait, he'll stay at the leadoff most likely. Could also lead to some issues if you have to bum him down in the order.

                            2. World Baseball Classic- I be ok with this as just a mode but would love to see it in dynasty mode.

                            3. Brands - I like the idea of having more brands in the game like Nike, Wilson, Reebok, etc.

                            4. Rehab starts in the minors - Too often I can't let my starter rehab in the minors due to rules. It would nice to have this option for some injuries.

5 - Two pure fluff things that don't really matter, Pregame show and a throwback to Triple Play with fake ads between innings. I'm sure the fake ads would get old but still could be fun and easy to skip. (Neither of those would make or break things for me, but it is called a wishlist, right?)

I like a lot of the ideas i see in these threads, but LOVE this idea. It seems to be something that really sets the 2k nba series apart.
