from what i understood u can get a whole 3-5 bucks back per game u bought of madden or a few other ea titles within the past 8 years or so . but to me its justa waste of time. i dont want 5 bucks back, i want EA to have to give up exclusive rights, until they do that , things wont really change. 5 bucks might get me a gallon of gas. wow.... not even worth my time. when they include taking away EA exclusive rights, like the last one did for ncaa , then count me in , until then , i think its just a dumb lawsuit.Comment

Essentially, as I understand it after i browsed the meat of its contents, The exclusive rights deal EA has with the NFL and players association has allowed them the exclusive right, obviously to be the only software company to use the players and team identities from the NFL, and because of that are charging more per game than they could without the exclusive right agreement because with other competition in the football genre the price would be lower to attract customers....
Fact is though, EA charges the base price for their Madden game as any other New released game at the time of release.....Fact also, EA and Activision both produce and sell First person shooters with military influences in COD and Battlefield, and regardless of the competition between the two, neither software producer is lowering their prices to try and attract more customers....They both charge the current new game standard of $59.95....
Therefore, it is my opinion this is a bogus lawsuit and will lose in front of a judge if it is in reality even granted a day in court....Competition or not, games sell at a base standard price....Last edited by californ14; 10-18-2012, 06:17 PM.Comment

It's true most games do sell for a base price of $59.99 (I have seen a very few sell for a bit cheaper). However, NFL & NBA 2K5 both sold for $19.99, which at the time games were $49.99 I believe. So who knows, if someone else were allowed to produce an NFL game it might be cheaper.
I couldn't care less about price myself. There needs to be competition. Then we would probably get a much better football game, whether it be from EA or anyone else.Comment

Umm, okay - the point being, neither publishing company is going out there and under-cutting the other in price, even though they are both competing with similar military themed games - granted COD is more close quarters, but even BF3 has CQB maps now....Basicly, both companies want money, so to sit and go back and forth trying to under-cut the price, in the end they both lose; so, just agree to sell at the same standard price and hope the quality is better in one game or the other....Comment

well i do agree the price really isnt the issue and people shouldnt really cry about droppin 60 bucks for a new game because about every single game now in days costs that much , and while i also agree that competition wont make the price drop also. the part i think your failing to see is this , year after year EA only does as little as it can to get by on. now i know your thinking , they have done alot for this madden. and yes i agree, however i dont find it a coincidence that they did all this work the very last year that their contract runs out with the NFL. mainly so they can say , hey , we are trying to improve it , renew with us ........ i mean the past few years has basically been a copy and paste game. just some newer names with very small things here and there. the real point of making them stop the exclusive rights( which can be done because the lawsuit that happend to ea over the summer , the ruling there said they had to stop having exclusive rights to be only maker of NCAA football game for 5 years , so it can be done) is to allow some competition in the field of NFL football games , so 1 players can have a choice of which group they think makes the better game. having that type of competition would force EA to stay on top of trying to improve this game every year, not just when their contract is about up. you mentions COD and BATTLEFIELD , glad you brought that up , both those games have lots of fans. and the fact that both group have competition in that field makes both companies have to strive to make a better game each year, not just once every 5 . that is y the exclusive rights should be taken away from EA, so there will be competition and so they can actually prove they make the best NFL game, year in and year out. Its easy to claim how good your product is every year when there is nothing to compair it to. this lawsuit is a joke, u might get 5 bucks outta your games, when someone does a suit to take away the exclusive rights, then we will be on to something and we should all sign up!Comment
