I played a couple games last night and I will concur that the physics is a lil smoother.
I wasn't bothered too much about the twitchy-ness after plays. I was more bothered by a lot of collisions in which the ball carrier and a defender smash into each other and there was no break tackle or tackle animation triggered, it just looked like they both ran into a brick wall. That has been reduced and i've seen even the second or third defender come in and shown signs of wrapping up the ball carrier which is great.
If I had a chance of adding something to this game, it would be a more specific hit stick. So many times i've had guys being held up in a tackle animation only for me come in full speed and push the pile with my face and/or torso in an awkward fashion. When you watch the NFL (especially players like Ryan Clark) you will see guys torpedo into already held players with their shoulders (or head if they get away with it). You should be able to do this in a football game too, so instead of having that current hit stick gather there should be a direction on the stick that allows you to dive with your shoulder so that you can affect these piles in a better and cooler looking way now that we have physics.
Anyway a bit off track, the game plays better but I also came across the skinny arms thing (ps3) and the depth chart wont save. In fact, everytime I make a change on the depth chart it takes a few seconds to think and looks like its on the brink of breaking everytime.
I can actually play this game now since they allow coop but while I was waiting for this patch I picked up nba 2k12 off a mate cause he got 2k13 and I have to say my bro and I were blown away by the franchise in that game.
Just my two cents, but that's how a sport game should look. Im a huuuuge football fan but man im tempted to just continue playing nba cause it feels so polished in every aspect - sound, commentary (best i've ever heard in any game), graphics and gameplay...hell, even the menus are ridiculously user friendly to navigate through.
Back off track again...
Overall, the patch has done good things for how I play madden but there are way too many football fundamentals missing from this game for me to say it plays "great" unless that great is used in context with other madden games and not other football or sporting games in general. Luckily Jarods sliders make this game better than how it is released, for me.
Peace.
