I didn't play FIFA World Cup 2010, so I can't compare it to that, but I played through the 2014 World Cup with Portugal and enjoyed it. If you're a sucker for details though, you may not love it. There was nothing that made it seem like it was in Brazil, or in any real specific location.

I still found it loads of fun, just as an awesome add-on to a mode I already enjoy. Ended up losing 1-0 to Germany in the semi's after not conceding the whole tournament.

Am I doing something wrong? It is July 2013 in my career, I am an American playing in Mexico. There are no WC qualifying matches on the calendar, nor are there any WC games showing next Summer. Will I eventually get the chance to qualify?

Yea same here. Im in Aug 2013 and nothing. Went ahead and simmed to 2014 & it shows nothing other than friendlies for the U.S. - My defender (74) has been playing in friendlies. This is offline player mode. ??????

I don't think qualifying is available for US or Mexico, as they're the only 2 CONCACAF teams in the game. I think you're just in the World Cup automatically. Somebody here posted something about there being a tournament with the South American teams, but I can't confirm that and I haven't seen it anywhere else.

Somebody here posted something about there being a tournament with the South American teams, but I can't confirm that and I haven't seen it anywhere else.

Thanks Jazz. From reading it looks like they couldn't get the rights to the Concacaf. Not sure how they will determine the entry to the Confed cup in 2017, ( no way I'm simming that far lol). From the Wiki looks like there is the Copa's for the South American teams.

The World cup/World Champ. won't show up on your Calendar till middle of MAy 2014. You'll also recieve a notification if your player is on the team.

So does this mean I can still bring the U.S. into the World Cup in my career mode? Also, do we get to select which players we get to have on our World Cup roster?

Appears U.S. has auto bid in the WC. Bet this year's real team would like that option.
Not sure about selection of players since I'm only in player mode. I would imagine if U could select ur players for friendlies it would be the same for the WC.

Haha yeah they would! If we get the chance to select our team I'm going to try to get Freddy Adu some international glory to at least somewhat live it up to the hype that surrounded him.

This is disappointing. I'm playing a virtual pro career (Mexican national team) going into my 2nd year and I was hoping we would at least get to play some generic concacaf nations in career mode at least. Kinda kills the desire to go any further

so i got hired on as New Zealand's manager...started the World [s]Cup[/s] Championship and played the three group games. The last group game was on June 30th so as soon as it was done it started the next season for my club team. I went back to the International Management page to continue as I had finished 2nd in my group, and there were no games to play. The next match I had scheduled for my team was a IF in September. Anyone had that happen yet?

That's scary. Can you see the results from the World Cup, i.e. who advanced from your group?

Yes you can see results. Some will come up as news notifications but if you go through the sub-menus (Season Stats, International Competitions, World Championship, Results and Fixtures/Group Tables) you can find the information you're looking for
