        Thoughts that come to mind:

        1) Stern is going into full YOLO mode until then (credit goes to @jose3030)

        2) Watching this presser, it feels like he's being forced out

        3) How soon does everyone turn on Silver.

He did a great job as commissioner excluding the whole Chris Paul issue, wonder what will happen to him after he retires.

As much as I dislike him, he is more entertaining than the other league commisioners.

And let me say, IMO he has done pretty well. He's just an ***.

Yeah, that and the whole being in bed with Clay Bennett thing.

Other than robbing a city of their franchise, he's been pretty solid.

Great. Can we get Billy Hunter to step down as the players union rep? Also, not sure if Adam Silver is the answer so I'm not all that thrilled about it.

In my world, Jeff Van Gundy would be made commissioner, but we all know that'll never happen.
Still, he does deserve it--he's one of the few men to have the stones to keep up the righteous indignation about dishonorable tactics like flopping.
And yes, I still blame Stern for the 2002 Western Conference Finals. And I've never been to California.
...And now I need to stop ranting before I blow a blood vessel.

I'm certain he's had many other issues aside from the Chris Paul thing. But through and through, I think he's done an outstanding job in his time as commissioner. No one in that position is going to be able to put in 30 years and come away with a flawless or near flawless record. But through and through, a lot of the things he's done have made sense, even in the face of stark criticism. On top of everything else, I've always appreciated his dry humor and wit.

He has done well -- he truly helped build the NBA brand -- kept it popular right thru two lockouts. I think he belongs in the HoF before the ink dries on the paper just for his contributions to the sport.

Can't wait for the documentary about his time as commish -- I bet it'd be very interesting.

Cool. I can't say I'm a very big fan of David Stern.
