Re: Madden NFL 13 Title Update #3 Available Now, Post Your Impressions (360, PS3)
Its not a traditional coach mode. We were unable to put a complete coach mode in, but were able to allow users to select a play and watch as a coach.Welcome back.
Do you know anything more about coach mode or report back when you know more?
Seems there was a misunderstanding between some posters vs EA about what coach would be implemented.
Some posters thought it was confirmed that coach mode would be similar to NCAA and when coach mode appeared in the patch, it was similar to prior coach mode's in Madden.Comment

Auto-subs were supposed to be addressed but if they are not I will pass this on to the team.
We are still looking into play calling but I am unsure if it can be addressed in Madden 13.Comment

What are the major faults in your opinion? I know there are some big issues that people are pissed about but I want to know your opinion.I would rather you didnt change offline editing . I can deal with the problems on my own. As far as gameplay I would leave it alone since i have no confidence that another patch wont mess things up.I say move on to 14 get that game correct since every change EA is making is making the game worse and not even addressing the major faults anyway.Comment

I'm sorry but I don't think this is truthful. Whether or not you will fix it is one thing. Acknowledging there is a problem is another which EA hasn't done at all.
It's well documented that this is an issue. It's been documented since late August, more than two months ago. How can you guys still be looking into it and have NOTHING to report? Either you think it's a problem or you don't by now. Either you guys are going to fix it or you won't.Comment

We know its a problem and are looking into fixing but it is not likely for M13.I'm sorry but I don't think this is truthful. Whether or not you will fix it is one thing. Acknowledging there is a problem is another which EA hasn't done at all.

No offense man, I'm sure you work hard.....but we're really tired of this "next year" stuff.
For some of us, we dont buy this game every year. I haven't bought Madden in 3-4 years because it just hasn't been good to me, and this year was finally supposed to be when it all came together. Now days it seems like EA hypes the game up like its the absolute best installment yet....then it comes out and we get the "Ehh, we'll do/fix that for next year" two months into the shelf life of the game.
I dont expect a perfect game, but even back in the PS2 days, the little things that seem to trip the game up so much this gen, seemed to be less of an issue.
All we really want is consistency. If something works fine one year, it should slightly tweaked for improvement, or just left alone the next year....instead we continually get things that work fine one year, then are broken the next year.
It's like a dog chasing it's tail but we're paying $65 dollars for it.Last edited by stoncold32; 10-26-2012, 04:44 PM.Comment

Sometimes a small tweak is enough to change everything, I get your point though. I would like to Madden get back to the Gen 2 glory days myself. No offense man, I'm sure you work hard.....but we're really tired of this "next year" stuff.

I understand that you respond to many posts so it is likely challenging to better articulate what you mean. However, it really is unfortunate when people get there questions addressed in a way that does not provide clarity on what they are asking. My suggestion would be to try to be sure, when responding to the more nuanced questions, that the question and the answer are clearly understood.
I state all that because even in this post I quoted, after the patch is out, the bold seem inaccurate. I sold the game and was waiting for reports on coach mode post patch to consider getting it again. From the reports of others, the coach mode still seems to be an auto passing mode, NOT even what is described in the bold of your post. Again from what I understand, the current "coach mode" post patch, does NOT "allow users to select a play and watch as a coach", the User still has to snap the ball, kick field goals, has to be conscious to not utilize the controller post snap and QBs don't scramble. I can't understand why this option or mode in M13 would even be labeled "coach mode" especially considering the in-game description of it is more apt, an auto passing mode. There has even been a post or thread about how even in traditional mode, meaning coach mode "off", User controlled players, other than the QB passing, will be controlled by the AI, if the User does NOT utilize the controller. So again, the only thing coach mode seems to be, is an auto pass mode, as described in the setting menu.
I am not in a tizzy or even upset about this kind of seemingly nonsensical stuff in Madden at this point because it's so routine. However what I find disappointing is how those responsible for creating Madden seem to be so unaware of how the game fundamentally functions.Comment

It is the same old (traditional) coach mode from the past. If you think there is some difference, please let me know because I haven't seen any.Comment

Haha nah I have never been offended or get upset with what anyone says to me. I understand it is because you are all passionate about the game and want to see improvement like I do.
I am however learning how to interact with a few of you. I jut don't know most of you all that well being as I have been nearly 100% on tradition sports for the past 4 years.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 13 Title Update #3 Available Now, Post Your Impressions (360, PS3)
The truth is it's really inexcusable how poor of job EA has done implementing the Madden series to next gen consoles. Every year we hold out hope for vast improvements, and every year we see seemingly obvious aspects of the game either left completely out, or poorly implemented? I mean how many years are we into the current consoles, and the old PS2 version is STILL a better game?!
Clearly it's been a host of different developers working on the game, so we can only hope the current crew will get it right soon. But how long is everyone willing to wait for "NEXT YEAR"? As someone that has played Madden for 15+ years (this is my first year without purchasing Madden), my biggest fear now would be when the next gen of consoles come out ... will it be another step backwards for the Madden series??? Lack of competition is rarely a good thing ...
On the upside, it's great to see interaction from EA reps like Emdot, and I have to assume that will "eventually" help with improvement ... just might be too late for me.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 13 Title Update #3 Available Now, Post Your Impressions (360, PS3)
Hi guys, I've searched through here and there's a lot of mention of issues with custom rosters in CCM. I'm thinking about picking up a rental copy again to check it out, but I was wondering if someone has a general breakdown of what these issues are.
Here's what I found through digging:
-Captain patches: Apparently all players will have a captain patch (some posts say all players EXCEPT actual captains). My question is if this is a random occurrence or always happens with custom rosters?
-Depth Chart issues: Apparently they are all reordered when bringing the roster into CCM. Can somebody expound on this? Is it that they immediately reorder in a random way (a bug) or are they immediately reordered due to some specific logic (design flaw) or is it that teams are reordering once they are "running" their squad (essentially intended)? If it's one of the latter two, can these be overridden by ratings adjustments (i.e. if guys are being reshuffled due to ratings, can their ratings be edited to ensure proper ordering)?
-Skinny arms: This apparently only affects certain positions. Is it any player in these positions (meaning created or existing NFL) or are CAPS still safe to edit? I've seen conflicting info on what causes it, so does anyone KNOW if the cause is simply any editing or is it just when editing bodies/arms?
Are there any other issues I'm missing (besides what was preexisting and still not addressed in the patch, of course)?
Thanks!Comment

I'm sure people have experienced all these issues differently, but I'm only responding with what I've come across personally.Hi guys, I've searched through here and there's a lot of mention of issues with custom rosters in CCM. I'm thinking about picking up a rental copy again to check it out, but I was wondering if someone has a general breakdown of what these issues are.

It must be random because I've yet to experience this glitch. I've never seen it in either of the two CCM's I have, post patch.
I guess I may be the exception here again, I've not experienced the depth chart problem. My depth chart never changed from what I kept it as before starting my CCM with my custom roster. I'm sure someone who has experienced this has figured a work around.
This I have experienced and it seems only to happen when you edit lineman or wide receivers. It may happen for other positions but I don't know because those are the only positions I had edited. I simply went back and reloaded without editing them and they were fine again. CAPS are safe to edit, I have a few of them on my rosters and they did not have skinny arms.
Are there any other issues I'm missing (besides what was preexisting and still not addressed in the patch, of course)?
