Amazing how EA dropped the BB and continued to make trash like Madden while 2K abandoned the greatest football franchise with 2K5 and APF 2K8. I know they didn't sell. Just UFB to me what sells and what doesn't.

NBA Live 08-10
Picked these games up for the 360 real cheap maybe $15 for all three this week. I think 10 is the best without question but 8 and 9 are pretty good too. Can't understand why EA is no longer making these games they had a good start to build on with these 3 titles. I am a big fan of the 2K titles but no way are they head and shoulders above Live 10 even to this date. Too bad no one updated the jerseys and the courts. I know it's a lot of work but...

Re: NBA Live 08-10
I had lots of fun with Live 05. Live 06 (PS2) was...ok, but I didn't really like that it became more arcadish, plus players had huge heads.
Live 08...I tried to make it more sim, tried everything, messed with the sliders/settings/player edits... for months, but nothing worked. I loved the post-up game, though it was arcadish as well (that drop step spin...I stopped using it, and still it was too easy to score in the post). I loved doing those shoulder fakes.
Live 09 - I didn't like dribbling system. Though it was pretty deep (deeper than 08's, at least) I just didn't like the animations, and along with the stickiness (glue) the game had all over it, it became boring and too repetitive for me. I did like the signature animations, and blocks were nice.
I only played Live 10's demo, and when I thought about getting it, it was hard to find it here. Except for the stupid bunny hop after every basket, the terrible color scheme (skins + uniforms) and the Live'ish animations (never really smooth), it looks like a solid game.My Specs:

Can't agree with what? Maybe 10-13 are better than Live 10 but not head and shoulders above. You do know what head and shoulders above means right? Like miles better. That said I still prefer the graphics and movement on Live 10 but I guess that's a personal opinion.Comment

It sure is. Live's graphics can't touch 2K's."I can accept failure, everyone fails at something. But I can't accept not trying."

Re: NBA Live 08-10
Here is my take on it. IMO NBA 2K10,2K11,2K13 are all better then NBA Live 10. IMO NBA 2K12 was just trash to me. I couldn't get the hang of the game. There was much logic behind it. You can not **** on NBA Live and its series because they were on the right track. NBA Live 365 was a good Idea. (taken by 2k- NBA Today) The use of FIBA and there teams was another cool feature. In the paint play has finally tuned up enough to where is was actually a challenge to score. To this day NBA 2K has always lets you walk into the paint and get easy buckets. Not happening in NBA Live 10. The biggest thing to me that I noticed about Live is that you have to play it as a team game. In 2k, not so much. In NBA Live, If you don't get your other teammates involved, You will feel the effect and they WILL miss shots when you need them to make them.
What you also have to realize is these are two completely different basketball games, so you have to play both games differently. IMO NBA Live is more of a pick a play, run it, and see if you can execute vs the defense. While NBA 2K can be played like that as well, but you will most likely free lace, way more then often. NBA Live "limits" your control, but it is not a bad thing that they do, It is for the better! You cannot play NBA 2K the same way you do NBA Live and vise-versa, because you will be very unsuccessful. Both games have its flaws and good. I say pick them both up, See witch one you like. You will be surprised.Comment

Re: NBA Live 08-10
Funny that the horrible Live 07, actually had several nice dunking animations, especially the ones by big men under the basket. I can't understand why they didn't use them in 08. 08's dunks were horrible except for a couple of them that were decent.
Layups were also horrible in 08. After 2.5 games on the next gen, they still couldn't get it right. Reading all the articles about the motion capture sessions, made me realize that EA either didn't have the tools to actually put those animations in the game (I doubt it), or just had no idea what they were doing. My Specs:

Re: NBA Live 08-10
I played Live 08 and 09 simply for the Team Play mode (which ran very well for the most part). 2K at that time either didn't have a team up mode, or it was very difficult to get in a game that worked properly. However, I hated the gameplay in both 08 and 09.
Live 10 was an improvement. Not a great game, but very solid (although, can I please just shoot a mid-range jumper without getting sucked into either a lay-up or some kind of leaning/fallaway animation!?)
I do consider 2K11 & 2K13 to be "head and shoulders" better than Live 10 though. So many of the animations in those games look and play out more realistically than they do in Live 10. I also think the player movement in 2K13 has a little more weight and realistic feel than Live 10 (which still feels a bit too twitchy to me). The control 2K gives you is just amazing. I don't just hit the layup button and hope for the best. I tell the game whether I want a left-handed/right-handed layup, a euro step, a spin-layup, or a floater. I can shade my defender left or right, decided whether I want to contest with the right stick or go for the block with the triangle button, throw a bounce pass whenever I want, pull off an array of dribble moves, etc. For a beginner, that kind of control is overwhelming (certainly was for me), but once you're used to it, it's hard to have that kind of control taken out of your hands and given back to the computer. And that's all before you factor in the presentation elements, a pretty fun MyPlayer mode, an in-depth (albeit not perfect) franchise mode, and much improved online functionality.
I hope it doesn't sound like I'm trying to beat Live 10 down because I really do mean it when I say it was a very solid game that I would have been more than happy to own. It's just that it's three years old at this point and doesn't measure up to 2K13.Comment

Re: NBA Live 08-10
I feel the same when it comes to weight in Live 10. Players/the ball feel like made of paper. Live 09 had better feeling when it comes to weight.
I'm probably in the minority, but I liked 09's graphics better than 10. 10 got some models and faces right, but the overall graphics looked better in 09, in my opinion. 10 also got colors wrong (uniforms and skin tones). My Specs:

Your basing all your opinions on a demo....maybe you should try the full version of the game. Because Live 10 got the colors right, and the graphics were better than 2k10.
Mike Wang put a lot of work into the animations and gameplay. Also that hop step animation was removed in the final version. I guess since you didn't have it, you wouldn't know that...
Color palettes, Jerseys and all were 100% accurate in Live 10, so don't get that mistake based off an early demo....I've done many HD videos of Live 10 and you can see it for yourself, just check my YT channel.Comment
