ACMilan99 you seem to be a bit down on Happ. I thought he pitched pretty well last year in Toronto in the few starts he got. I don't think the Jays are going to get 3 quality arms for the rotation so i'm not holding my breath. I would actually like to see someone like Lohse come here. He's a bit older but he's a better bridge to some of the young arms coming up in the system.

If we get Marcum back and they make it sound like a major acquisition i'll be massively disappointed. Marcum at this point in time is just a guy (a pretty good one but still "just" a guy) you give a shot to.

I'm a bit down on Happ. If we weren't competing I wouldn't mind him in the rotation but he's got an option left.

I saw him go head to head w/ Verlander in Detroit... that was a sweet game.

Lohse? Dude scares the living bejebus out of me. He's old and wants a long term deal... no thanks.

      Marcum's a risk, definitely.

I only mentioned signing him on OUR terms, no more than a 3 year deal.

          I wouldn't go above 2 + option.

Giants are rumored to be discussing a 3 year 18 mil deal with Affeldt.

I know hes a good lefty reliever but 6 mil per? Contracts are just as out of control as ever.

Rumor is the Brewers are interested in Ryan Dempster... Not sure how I feel about this!! Why did he struggle so much in Texas?

I would much rather have Greinke back!!

That was in the AL. He fits the NL much better. With that being said as a cubs fan you can have him.

                  Ok that makes sense...

I don't want anything to do with Dempster!! BUT I can see Doug giving him a 2 year deal with a 3rd year option

The rangers are considering Russel Martin. I seriously don't know why GMs would go after him, unless their paying him under $5 Million.

20+ HR power while playing in 120+ games all but 1 year in his career? For a catcher that's good enough for me. I can overlook his gaudy batting average if he can play well behind the plate.

That's more than the Rangers can say they got outta Napoli last year

yeah, that's why i said $5 million or under.

If there paying him 8-10 that's too much.

Martin's been a ~2 win catcher over the last 4 years, $5 million would be a bargain.

Martin's one of the better defensive catchers in the game today so I agree with Snepp on that one.

Mike Cormack wrote an article today about places he thinks J.P. Arencibia could go... included Rays, Rangers, White Sox, Mariners, Cubs and Mets as possible fits. If we do JPA for Neise I'm gonna be unhappy.

                                Morrow

                                Low level FA (Feldman preferred)/Marcum
I'd like a rotation of Morrow,Marcum,Romero,McCarthy and someone else. If JP does get traded, he could possibly be traded for that other SP. Imagine someone like McCarthy being a 5th starter on this rotation. Talk about a deep rotation! I think people are looking too much into Romeros 1 bad season this past year.

I'm guessing asking for a guy like Matt Harvey from the Mets would be asking too much? He's a top 100 prospect and ERA under 3 in 10 games started for Mets in 2012.
