    Tips for a beginner

I just bought 2K13, and I haven't played a basketball game since NBA live 95. Yes, I am that old. Any tips for some of the skills I should learn to at least get started and competitive in SIM online play in the league with friends I joined?

    Perhaps:

5 post moves I should use with Bynum
Other good dribble/drive shot moves to use with Evan Turner, Jrue, or Thadeus Young.

5 standard plays I should know.

I look forward to your feedback. This games seems daunting with all of the button pushes/stick moves you need to master.

Should I master shot stick, or the shot button?

I know that's asking for a lot of feedback, so if you just want to give 1 tip instead, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

First suggestion--use training camp mode. It can be found through the main menu and is worth the time. Secondly, I loved NBA Live 95. Shakedown2012 is great with tutorials on youtube also, and I do a few but nothing compared to his. People can be helpful in the right places. Good luck; it's a great game.

depends what your gonna be playing?
search the forums for "easy vc" if your gonna do a mycareer mode.
get your players attributes up a bit BEFORE you start mycareer or you will be MASSIVELY frustrated most of the season.

learn the dribble moves (PG or SG) and equip sig skills that relate to your player/playstyle.

play your position, if your a centre, dont try to get the most points in the game, youll only fail and wreck your teammate grade (as a beginner), go for rebounds and box out as much as possible.

get your team chemistry up by answering the post game press conference mostly with x (ps3, dunno what xbox is, top left option)

play a LOT of mynba2k on iphone and nba2kmylife on facebook

it revolves around vc, if you have very little or are unable to earn it then use the apps and tricks in the easy vc thread.

enjoy and dont give up, it gets better.

ps, dw about offensive rebounds, its glitched and the cpu will out rebound you for the easy put backs.

the button is allot easier but the shot stick is more accurate as far as gettin the timing right..its a lil weird getting used to at first...but once you do it enough it becomes instinct

Coach 2K put a guide to winning on Hall of Fame that can be used as a guide to improvement for newer players.

When you read it, mostly pay attention to the 10 steps and why he suggest each step.

This guide sets you on a long path to improvement. So this isn't a quick tip, it's more like a crock pot recipe to improvement. It's not fast.. it's just worth it.
