A few words about these sliders

I create my slider sets from BASE 50 or default settings

These sliders have been tested not only by myself but by numerous OS community members
(Special thanks to Icy4Me, JMAN350Z, Phobia, thelasthurtknee, JoshC1977 and everyone else that has helped!)

These sliders have hundreds of games and hours invested and statistics to back up alterations to default settings

I make small adjustment during testing while analyzing stats and game-play
(This is why you will see minor versions 1.x)

There is NO setting that is changed "just because"

All settings are changed after testing and analysis

I believe that game-play and statistics are both important factors in creating a slider set and I strive for authenticity and balance in both areas

I encourage anyone looking for a solid base Heisman set to use these sliders, post boxscores, discuss sliders, gameplay and provide constructive feedback

A few words of wisdom and my philosophy regarding sliders

There is no such thing as a "perfect" slider set

We all play with different styles and skill levels
You need to tweak any slider set to suit your game play

I offer this base set as nothing more than a base set, a solid foundation from which to build your own slider set that suits your needs

    Re: thumstyx NCAA 13 Sliders

I finally have what I consider to be a solid base set
Try them out if you are looking for a challenging Heisman set
    Please post any feedback

Please keep these factors in mind when testing any slider set

1.) Affect of the Run Game on other sliders

The run game will have a DRASTIC affect on any slider set
If the run game sliders are too difficult it will impact the pass game, stats etc.
Always strive for balance with the run game and work on other sliders from there

    2.) Who is playing who?

I test my slider set with a very average Minnesota Gophers team
If you play with Alabama you might obviously find that some settings may need to be adjusted to make it more challenging

    2.) Ability and play style

There will never be a "perfect" sliders set
I share this set because this is what works for me
Maybe they can work for you

      Re: thumstyx NCAA 13 Sliders

I recently tried fistofrages sliders to experience the "Safety AI Fix" to see how it could apply to my slider set

I love the gameplay and feel of the fistofrages slider set but there is one element I cannot get past with the VARSITY AI

The AI of the varsity CPU offense is just not competent enough to sustain drives and provide a challenge

I have taken the coverage slider from 65 to 25 in my set and I have also changed the speed threshold to default 50

I am seeing a big improvement for Safety AI with these two changes

The speed threshold is HUGE in my opinion and here is why

When the safeties "glitch" or get beat or bust coverage (Call it what you want - whatever helps you sleep better night - The fact is it is just plain busted...) when the speed threshold is set to 50 the DBs RECOVER much faster and are able to catch back up to the receiver making an attempt to bust up the play

I will continue working with this logic to see if I can compensate for the busted coverage of DBs on Heisman

        Re: thumstyx NCAA 13 Sliders

I'm not using the sliders you posted, but I am taking your suggestion about Speed Threshold at 50 to fix the CPU pass coverage on deep routes.

Good work on that aspect. It does seem to drastically help the CPU DBs recover and make a play on the ball.

However, it's not full proof as sometimes the deep Safety still has an issue reading the play and standing flat footed. Again though it's no where near as bad as it was previously on 0 speed threshold.

          Thank You for the feedback
I will be testing again tonight

Some of my recent findings might be substantial enough to warrant restarting my OD

3+ Years in my current but the recent findings regarding coverage and challenge of my most recent slider set makes me want to go back and get my butt kicked properly!

One thing about default 50 on Heisman is the speed of Lineman when pursuing a scrambling QB is a bit unrealistic but that is part of the give and take

I will be testing 50 - 40 threshold ranges with a "balanced" QB
Speed 80 - Agility 75 - Acceleration 80 when scrambling tonight along with coverage

          Thanks again for the feedback

            Re: thumstyx NCAA 13 Sliders

We decided to go with your sliders in our OD. Was hoping you'd be able to limit the DB glitch, but it doesn't appear you were able to lower the occurences. I don't really look for it often, so I don't see it, but a guy had this stat line against Western Kentucky. 12 catches, 428 yards, and 5 tds. That's insane. Any suggestions?

              Re: thumstyx NCAA 13 Sliders

Thanks for trying the sliders and thanks for the feedback

One thing to consider is "play style"

If you are running 4 verticals against a bad secondary (even a good secondary) you will be able to beat them deep with this current slider set sometimes... Not all the the time but yes sometimes.

What you can do is try these changes:

              CPU Pass Coverage: 25 (35)
              Interceptions: 30-40 (25)
              Pass Rush: 30-45 (25)

You could also consider lowering the HUM QB Accuracy slider as it does have an impact where the deep ball lands

My most recent changes opened up the passing game a bit from the last set this should help lock it back down

Nothing says "Go ahead and try to keep throwing deep..." like turning up the heat with the pass rush and interceptions

              I hope this helps

Unfortunately there seems to be no slider set available that can completely remove the DB Glitch. I've had the best success by far on Fistofrage's Varsity Sliders.

For some reason AA and Heisman really expose the DBs and I have no idea why...

Basically the only way to avoid it is to make a rule not to throw vertical routes haha. Obviously, it's a rule that can't really be enforced when you're playing with random people in an OD.

Hell my OD has 3 RL friends in it and they still abuse it when they desperately need a score or long 3rd down conversion.

Any vertical route by the slot receiver will be uncovered 60-80% of the time without question. It's just something EA has failed to address and we as players can't counter it.

                  Re: thumstyx NCAA 13 Sliders

Unfortunately, and this is just me, I can't use fistofrages varsity slider set because they are not challenging

I have never lost a game using that slider set...

My biggest issue with any varsity slider set is the AI of the CPU offense
Sure, you can fix the DB coverage but why sacrifice the AI Offense?

I have used and tested varsity slider sets for years but I just can't get around the CPU AI at that level

This is why I work from Heisman

                  *

I am currently testing today to improve the stat line / lower the offensive success for both HUM and CPU

Big changes in QB Accuracy and penalty sliders

thumstyx is hitting the LAB hard today!

I am working on Varsity, All American and Heisman right now completely revamping a new slider set
I update the sliders when I have a new base version

                    It might be awhile...

I'm desperate to find a good set let me know what base you're working with and I'll help you test as much as possible.

I am through 5 games with fistofrages default set
I am seeing great things but again...

My Minnesota gophers are 5-0 and I just finished what should have been my most challenging game at Iowa holding them to 6 rushing yards

                        That is just awful

After my last 5 games with that set this is what I see as the biggest problem stats

                        User Sacks
                        CPU Sacks
                        CPU Running Game
The absolutely horrible AI of Varsity skill level

I am still a firm believer that much like in real life the running game of the CPU MUST be effective in order for the passing game to be effective

I am going into my next few games after the bye with the following changes to the base set:

(changes in red - default in parenthesis)
((I also change the kicking sliders as I personally don't see the need to make the kicking game too challenging - The CPU needs all the help they can get))

                        User

Well after a 52 -17 beat down of Northwestern...
(...and this was a game I was hoping this slider set would have Northwestern winning or at least keeping it very close)

I have officially given up on any hope for a challenging slider set on Varsity

Unfortunately no amount of slider tweaking will make up for the hardcoded AI of the CPU on Varsity

I will begin work again on Heisman

                          Back to the lab... again
                          Stay tuned

Stats from my last game ever with an NCAA 13 Varsity slider set
(Check the stat for CPU 3rd down conversions to find out why...)

I'm heading into Game 6 with my current Heisman Sliders
This will be a great test

                            Minnesota at Wisconsin

This was the box score of the REAL game played this year

Wisconsin ran the ball down the Minnesota's throat in this game...

                            I'll post my stats tomorrow

                              Re: thumstyx NCAA 13 Sliders

I just did some testing tonight with my current Heisman set
I wanted to see the eye test after working with Varsity the past few days

                              It's good to back

I am seeing the CPU AI on Heisman make much better decisions
I am seeing the Safeties give help over the top on almost all 4 vertical plays and intercepting a realistic percentage when they are in position

I will continue to work on the coverage, interception and pass rush sliders to achieve a balanced challenging set

I can't fix the safety glitch on Heisman 100% of the time but I can certainly make a HUM passer think twice about throwing deep

                              I'll post stats tomorrow

(That being said... I am in the zone right now and got my offensive mojo working with the Gophers in my OD - We'll see how that works for me tomorrow...)
