    NBA 2K13 Off-Season Free Agency

Free Agency is one of the most interesting parts of Association mode on 2k13. There are so many options and so many different directions that things can go based on where players sign.

This is the thread to share your stories on who signed where during your season. If you were able to land a big free-agent, share what moves you made to free up the money to do so. I am hoping that we can develop a good thread to put all of these free agent stories together. This will hopefully give us some ideas in our own associations.

Thank you in advance for all of the input

Re: NBA 2K13 Off-Season Free Agency

I haven't reached free agency yet in my association but I'm gonna be looking at signing a centre for my rockets team for asik who I plan on trading away before the "poison" year on his contract. At the moment I'm looking at Pekovic but anybody else got some other good options? I should have a bit of cap space but I don't think I'll go for Dwight

Did Al Jefferson sign an extension in Utah? If not then I would go with him. He is one of the most under rated Centers in the game, quality rebounder, and he is money from mid-range

Lol that sucks, he always re-signs with the Jazz in my associations too. He re-signs and Milsap leaves to test free agency

Did Andrew Bynum extend with Philly? If so then I would say that Pekovic would be your best bet, he re-signed with the T-wolves in my association though. I don't know if he will in yours. Another option would be to go after Robin Lopez. Lopez may not be what you are looking for as a starter, but you may be able to package him with one of your young PFs to get someone like Enes Kanter, or Tyler Zeller.

Is it me or does every team accept matching the offer sheet of a restricted free agent it impossible to sign them.

That has been my experience. I wonder if I were to offer a max contract to an RFA that is like a 68 overall if the team would match that lol. They really need to let some RFAs sign with different teams because that does happen, Jeremy Lin and Omer Asik are examples lol

Lol wow, where did they get the money for that? They must have gotten lucky with a lot of expirings.

I don't see super teams, I see stars leaving teams on the rise for rebuilding teams or teams that do not make sense. I always end up with CP3 going somewhere crazy like the Bucks or the Cavs. The Bucks always match the offers for Jennings, and still sign CP3. If the Bucks do not get him then the Cavs get him, and they keep Kyrie.... It seems like there would be some way to reason things out to where teams don't use all of the money that they have on the top players, but rather players that they need, or they save money for future free agencies. 2k hasn't figured this out yet though lol

Re: NBA 2K13 Off-Season Free Agency

                    To the Rockets owner,

Also look for Kaman, Dalembert, or JJ Hickson...depending on what roster you're using and if they re-signed.

                    To the OP,

My free agency process revolves around 30 user control...it's a ton of fun.
Basically, I limit every team to 8 offers (including qualifying offers to its own FA's). I then limit each player to a maximum of 5 bids. I take turns bidding for the top players, picking out the 5 most likely teams to attract him (given how valuable he is, I'm only going to give him offers from top teams for realism). Then after I've made 5 bids per player for the top 10-15 guys, I then start rotating team by team and putting in bids for their desired players. Allows me to maintain a lot of realism and also I get a lot of interesting surprises this way because I'm never 100% positive which of the 5 teams will win the top free agents.

Yeah Bynum extended. It's okay, I don't really need scoring, just defence and rebounding so I think Pekovic would fit right it. He's planning on testing free agency right now so I'm hoping he'll stay like that. I already have Robin Lopez as my backup centre lol.

Good call on Dalembert and Kaman, I had forgot about them.

@SwaggerCoach, that sounds like an awesome system. I will probably use this system because i run into a problem when I play 30-team associations of getting confused because because i have like 15 offers per player etc lol. I will try I appreciate the input.

I'm not too keen on Hickson and Dalembert looks like he'll resign. As for Kaman, he's a little old and injury prone but I for some reason I fail to get Pekovic, then I'll probably looking into getting Kaman or just keeping Asik for another season and try to replace him the following free agency

JJ Hickson is good, he is just out of position. He is naturally a PF but he has to play a lot of Center at portland. He is strong so he can make it work. I wish he had more of a jump shot. I don't feel like spending a lot on a undersized big that can't shoot lol
