A few years ago I didn't want the actually rule of the 20 second timeout one sub rule. I actually never knew about it. Until I argued with someone on this forum about it. But I've always felt how real is too real. I would never want to watch someone hack-a-me all game just to watch a free throw game. That would be boring! lol

Hack-a-Whoever in a basketball video game
How do you guys feel about this ever being in a basketball video game? Could you imagine someone hack-a- Someone on your team every single time down the floor. Just to watch you struggle to make a free throw. Or like Pop did vs the Clippers last year to change the momentum of a game. I could hear people yelling cheese from here to 2k's offices.

Re: Hack-a-Whoever in a basketball video game
Iv actually done this in 2k13. Kid was just killing me with dwight howard. Would just post up and hit every hook shot. He was like 12-14 on just hook shots. Not counting his 5 offensive rebound slams. So i subbed in kwame and Royal ivey. And hacked the **** out of dwight everytime he touched the ball. Kid went 5-20. One of my goons fouled out but it was worth it. The kid got fustrated and started trying to fastbreak everything witch resulted in a bunch of turnovers. And i made a 20 point comeback in the 3 and 4th quaters.
Guy sent me a messege calling me a noob.
Responded and said its just good strategy. -

And you see... I wouldn't have problem with that. I think it's on the user to change it up. But I could see how people would call it a cheese. I remember in 2k8 where they didn't have clear path foul. My friend would foul on any fastbreak. Just so you didn't get any free buckets. Hacking a bad free throw shooter is a different story.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

Re: Hack-a-Whoever in a basketball video game
I think I once did this in a close game against the clippers when I was winning by 2 or 3.This guy was cheesing the hell out of me so I don't care. He passes the ball to Reggie Evans go figure, he missed all of his free throws.Comment

Re: Hack-a-Whoever in a basketball video game
on 50 difficulty it's too easy to really make hacking a player a strategy. Either way, i think its just that, strategy, the same as leaving players who can't shoot open.Comment

Re: Hack-a-Whoever in a basketball video game
I play hack-a-LeBron and hack-a-Durant regularly on MyTeam. If either of those two gets a steal and is on a fastbreak, if I have a defender in front of them, they're getting fouled.Comment

Re: Hack-a-Whoever in a basketball video game
I did this on Biedrins but actually I was trying to steal the ball, almost every steal attempt is a foul now with the new patchList of the best Shoe Creations found on the OS Shoe Vault Discussion Thread

KD has one of the easiest Free throw shots in the game. So it doesn't matter.Comment

Re: Hack-a-Whoever in a basketball video game
I was confused when he brought up LeBron and Durant lol.... I could hit about 8 out of 10 with LeBron. With Durant.... I can hit FT with my eyes closed.
But what I'm really talking about here is. Could you imagine if you could foul off the ball? Get into the penalty early. And as soon as the ball get inbound. Foul some player who can't shot FT. It would be really annoying.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

Re: Hack-a-Whoever in a basketball video game
Per NBA.com:
Away-From-The-Play Foul:
Once the game clock reaches 2:00 in the fourth period or 2:00 of overtime periods, any defensive foul prior to the ball being released during a throw-in shall be penalized with one free throw by any player in the game and retaining the ball at the same spot. Also during this time, the same penalty would apply if a defender takes a foul against an offensive player who is not part of the action. This is to prevent teams from fouling players who are not the best free throw shooters as a strategy to gain an advantage in the critical part of a game.
I do think off-ball fouls are needed as its part of the game and I like having all options available. But with those rules, its not as effective as it was back in the day."Most people would learn from their mistakes if they weren't so busy denying them"Comment
