College Football's National Championship (Genesis, 1994)

Does anyone remember the game College Football's National Championship on Sega Genesis? i've been watching some videos of this game online and i have to say i am very impressed, it looks like the game has held up very well over time.

The graphics are very good for its time, it has multiple camera angles, classic commentary, and pretty solid gameplay. going through the playbooks, there's a lot of different formations and plays. i especially like the options when calling plays. you can do things you can't even do in modern games, like 1) take any formation / play, and make it shotgun. being able to make any play shotgun is a great option i wish was in more modern ncaa games, and 2) choose whether to put a man-in-motion for any play. it really expands the playbook

    "...makes a spectacular catch...good execution"

more then all that though, this game from the title screen gives you a really good college football atmosphere. definitely a great old school college football game that manages hold its own even now. you could also take your helmet off after ever play!

there was also a College Football's National Championship II for the Genesis, but in that version sadly there was no commentary! it seemed to be very similar to the first one. this was a game i remember from the 90s. at its time it was a very cool game.

I played the heck out of this game when I was in elementary school. I think it only had like, 32 teams? I'm pretty sure it used the same gameplay engine as Sega's Joe Montana Football 94 (I think that's what it's called). So much fun and nostalgia.

The title is actually NFL Football '94 featuring Joe Montana. I've got that game and still play it a lot. Haven't played this one though, this makes me want to check it out.

Yeah, I remember that game. The gameplay was exactly the same as Joe Montana 94. I played the heck out of Joe Montana 94. I think these were the best football games of the 16 bit era.

It was basically Joe Montana with college teams and option plays.

I preferred Bill Walsh at the time, but both were good football games.

Yea, both games were awesome as was Bill Wash's College football game. There was also another college football game called NCAA Football that was only for snes. Ahh the days when we had options.

I loved NCAA Football until I figured out you could run punt block every down and never give up a yard. Couple that with a few select plays on offense and you could win almost 100-0 every game in a 5 minute quarter setting.
