Foul rate for blocking shots

I find it very interesting that many people are very happy about the reach in foul rate but what about the people who spam the block button on Defense.

Countless times people playing defense lunges at my 3pt shooters without any regards to contact many times knocking my player down without a foul being called.



My question is will 2k fix this?

Wow, what's next? Remove the ball from the game?
Block spamming? Inside the paint yet maybe but a lunge is not spam.
If someone is going for a 3 should we just hang back and let them take it?

There is definately not enough shooting fouls called. But you should know by now that people doesn't really want a simulation.

There is nothing wrong with the foul rate, the problem comes from the game not registering contact on shot attempts. Trust me, if the game registered most of the contact on shot attempts people would complain about the rate being too high. I currently see nearly a dozen shooting fouls a game with the current rate, I would probably see 15-20 if contact registered better.

One of the worst part of all 2k basketball games is the lack of foul calls on contested jump shots. The lack of foul calls on jump shots allows defenders to close out on shooters in an unrealistic way, and at an unrealistic speed because no fouls will be called when the defender jumps into the jump shooter during the shot.

2k should add a slider for jump shooting fouls. They already have a slider for the defensive strength in contesting jump shots. Adding a foul slider strictly for jump shooting would add a great deal of realism to the game.

I couldnt agree with you more. It was in the demo. Especially playing other people online in the demo. The foul calls on blocks was excellent. I really dont know what 2k is doing.

Way to start talking nonsense, what I said is a step toward sim basketball. Th steal issue was clearly cheese pre-patch but 2k solution post patch failed IMO. Reach in foul calls are now considered spam to me.

It makes no sense that people are happy you can't spam the steal but are ok with 2k spamming the reach in foul call from trying stealing. Both outcomes makes no sense. How about finding a balance which can be done based on players ratings and signature skills.

Now when it comes to 3pt shooters how about playing man defense, pressure shooter. That is the answer to your question .

Most of you guys are sitting in a zone 1-3-1 with all your guard in the paint so when I kick it out to stephen who is wide open, you hold down the turbo and charge at him full speed ahead knowing that you won't get called for a foul. Many time my shooters end up on the ground and the other team now has a fast break.



The same way people spammed the steal pre-patch is exactly how people lunge at shooters knowing nothing will be called.

So you can either go off with your ,"whats next" rant or you can realize that 2k failed pre and post patch in realism. I'm not asking 2k to make the same mistake they did with the steals post patch, I want 2k to learn how to test what they change and make sure what they change doesn't turn to another extreme. Seems to me 2k just moves a few sliders and declares the problem fix without proper test.

Something that "simple" you think needs fixing might be a complex problem to fix.

In 2k10 and 11 you could make people pay by jumping into the defender and attempting the shot. I find that method much harder in 2k12 and 13. On the flipside, I'm glad I dont have to deal with the pump fake foul spammers of the past. Hopefully 2k will find balance in the future.

I don't see it as a problem. If you know what they are going to do, you should eat that up. 4 options for this.

1. Side step and shoot.
2.Hop step to side and shoot.
3.Do a cross that looks like your about to shoot and drive.
4.Penetrate and make them pay with a bucket down low with a big man if they are intentionally doing this 2get the cpu to D you.

3s are raining like crazy, you really want extra fouls too??
