It does provide a challenge as it balances the game, I just wish the run game on both sides of the ball consisted of more 3-5 yard runs (like real football), instead of a bunch of rushes that go for -3 yards and no gain and then break a 70 yard run or two a game. I've been changing the sliders a little bit to make it as much of a challenge as possible while maintaining balance and not having the ai run game completely stall and do nothing (which seems to occur) or destroy me.
