All Manual Controls - Online Seasons

Is anyone getting luck matching up against fellow all-manual players,

it takes me about 10-15 minutes [when i'm patient enough] to find a game with all manual settings.

Im in Div 4, anyone found higher or lower divisions have more/less manual players, if needed i'd drop down a few to get some games on all-manual.

    thanks in advance

Wow, you're patient! I've only ever searched that long once. I havent found anyone in so long that I rarely look anymore. Would *love* an all-manual match-up! Even if it's not ranked. I'm on 360 btw.

I can find a match within a minute, but I am in Europe so there must be more manual players in Europe, I like it because it's more about skill rather than what team you pick.

Wow, that'd be awesome. I have one friend who also plays manual and those games are intense. I hate when I play someone on default and I work so hard dominating possession and all stats and they make it down to my end for the first time and score some lucky shot because theyre on default.

Seems normal for me too to wait ages for a match. I go to full manual lobby and guys pop in and out , some seem to have a pre arranged game and go match up right away while most times no one responds or occasionally they invite to a game.

I surf the net while waiting so its no big deal.

Well if anyone wants to play manual controls on 360, my gamertag is the same as my forum username. Feel free to add.

yup, one two pass with a lobbed through ball to ronaldo up front....abusing the CPU defense, once you switch you're still not fast enough to cover the ground, then a finesse shot past the goal keeper. that seems to sum up 'most' assisted players I play against.

Its pretty pointless at times to switch to the nearest defender when even when you have that player selected while hitting sprint, you are still slower that if that player was controlled by the AI. So I like to switch to the next nearest player and allow the AI to defend the ball carrier. That may be the wrong way to do it but what other choice do you have when no matter what you do, the player you control so much slower when you control them?

I wish I could matched up with a manual player on any of the FIFA online modes. Hell, I'd settle for someone who plays on slow. I never get a match, though. I always end up caving in and switching my controls to semi assisted. I've had decent luck finding players who aren't all about the exploits.

You know what I'm finding now, is the game is better on manual but I seem to be winning a good share of my games now against auto players, so thats a good sign.

                        Yes, you are EXTREMELY patient.
I'll search one or two times and then just switch back to an 'ANY' search but still maintain my own manual controls. It's a real pain in the backside having to do this; but the funny part is that i hear so many manual players say the same thing, yet for some reason or another, we can't seem to find each other online.

This is definitely an 'across-the-pond' thing. For me, getting up early helps and i manage to find a few decent matches. However, I find that many players from that side of the world just end up cancelling the game once they see i'm in Canada. Whenever i ask, they reply 'Canada - England, bad lag'. They don't even give it a try.

I try to keep an eye on the furthest and most central attacker that they have. A lot of people will just send that player on a run as soon as they gain possession. Most of the time i'm controlling the deepest defender so that i can intercept the pass or at least put pressure on him so that he.....
                        1. doesn't get the easy pass;
                        2. is forced to rethink his option, which throws them off a bit and forces them to hold the ball a bit longer, giving me more time to make a move on the ball carrier.
I never select the nearest defender when playing against assisted opponents, because they can easily dish it off with a quick no-look, no-need-to-think-about-it tap of the pass button.

What i have done in the past is used the 2nd defender press to apply, what they think will be, pressure. At this point i'm actually keeping a close eye on the potential alternative passing option, which is usually a longer and one of more high-risk to execute. Then before they even make that pass, I manually switch to the player closest to who i think will be getting it, and mark him tightly. Which in turn can force them to look for a 3rd option. Works most of the time, sometimes it doesn't.

This usually only works against assisted players though, because the ball goes directly to the player for the most part, so it's a lot easier to read what they're doing. If you're up against a solid manual player...forget about it.

yep, once you get really comfortable with manual controls, it actually becomes an advantage so long as you can move the ball around effectively. Reason being is that you can read there game much easier, but they can't really read yours. It's much easier to disguise the pass on manual but for some reason assisted players just don't seem to get it; or they're not willing to deal with the learning curve.
