    PYS 2011 $39.99 on Amazon

For anyone out there who is curious about PYS but doesn't want to overpay or is concerned about shipping from Japan or other Asian locations, this is a good alternative. I don't have anything bad to say about any of those businesses, but $39.99 for a great baseball game is too good to pass up, and may cause some to consider future versions of PYS.

    http://www.amazon.com/Konami-PROFESS...l+spirits+2011

Muka's Spirits Translations website makes it easy enough to get through. I have PYS6 as well. PYS 2011 is the last game with Darvish as a member of the Nippon Ham Fighters.

At this point they have three copies left. I bought mine earlier this month. PYS 2011 is well worth it.

Bowker is in the 2012 version, and his ratings are lousy

2010 the NPB was using a "light ball" so PYS had wide open scores but the graphics aren't as good.

2011 the NPB switched to a "heavy ball". The game had improved graphics but a couple nagging bugs at release. These were fixed, but player ratings in the roster updates were tweaked because scoring in the league went way down due to the heavy ball. Thus, it was like a mix of 2010 & 2012 versions.

2012 is very polished and Konami took every effort to properly reflect the lower scoring league. Personally I think they took it a bit too far but this is arguable, it was well received by hardcore players in Japan. You have to be ok with low scores, very challenging play and intense 1-run games.

Beginners may be better off with 2010 or 2011. My favorite is still 2010, very balanced and fun with no bugs or glitches. Also, it has all the star players that have since joined up with the MLB. 2011 also has the star players and comes with a totally re-done & simplified player progression system in pennant mode, so you can't go wrong there either.

Here's the lowdown on Bowkers attributes (normally I wouldn't have time for this but am laid up on the couch with an injury so here you go)...

He can play 1B, LF, CF and RF. He's rated "D" defensively in those spots except CF where he sucks.

              Contact vs Left: E 40
              Contact vs Right: G 27
              Power: D 59
              Speed D 53
              Glove Skill: E 46
              Throwing Skill: E 45
              Arm Strength: C 64
              Fatigue recovery: D 52

              SPECIAL SKILLS:

+ First Pitch Hitter: Contact & Power increase before 1st strike
+ Bases Loaded: Contact & Power increase with bases loaded

+/- Pull Hitter (power increased on pull hits, decreases in opp field hits)

              - Below Avg bunter (-1)
              - Contact greatly decreases with 2 strikes
              - Poor at stealing (-2)

Here's his tendencies (green special skills) when the CPU bats with him...

              Aggressive Hitter
              Pull hitter
              Mostly swings for power.

ST, this might be a weird question if it doesn't make sense (because it might not be in the game), but MLB Power Pros for PS2 had two different batting cursor control options: analog and digital. Analog is like what I see in every video I've seen so far, where the cursor snaps back to the center of the strike zone if you let go of the analog stick. Digital would be like the old All Star Baseball or World Series Baseball games... if you move the cursor and let go, it doesn't reset anywhere, it just stays where it is.

Is there a "digital" option available in Pro Yakuu 2011? I know it was removed in MLB Bobblehead Pros, and that really unnerved me.

Yes, and it has 5 different speed setting options I think. In MLB Power Pros 2012 you can actually choose analog and change to digital on the fly by hitting the LB button!

In PYS it's a bit different, if you select digital by default you can change the speed of the cursor on the fly. So lets say you choose default speed; by hitting LB button it will slow the cursor down and change it to something like a -1.5 speed.

Power Pro has it done perfectly. You can either hit LB for digital batting and focus on a small area of the zone if you're ahead in the count, or just use analog when you're behind in the count and need to hack. In PYS (console version) I prefer analog, the batting cursor is really smooth. All my fiddling & adjusting came when I had to get used to the small Vita sticks; I drive myself crazy trying to decide between digital or analog. Power Pros gives me both during live play so it's killer.

No problem man. I think you'll have a blast using him in Field Play Mode (he will be the only player you use all year.)

11 is graphically pretty close to 12. I doubt they can push the PS3 much further than they already have so I expect 13 will look a lot like 12. The batting cursors are on balance a lot larger than 12 and the hitting is a lot less impossible on the higher settings.

I would consider picking up 5 Kanzenban myself. Well ahead of its time.

Then you very well may have sold me. I'm just wondering what 12 and 13 would have that I should be considering is all, and if they'll ever see a $39.99 price tag someday.

I'm also wondering how much language will be a barrier for me. I know I can always refer to images that translate and what have you, but I'd like to be able to pick up some Japanese just by recognition alone.

Can that ball trail be turned off?

                              Why is that?

I'm asking seriously. What does that mean? Does that mean that I just won't be affected with the fact that it's a different language entirely, or the translation pages are that deep, or...? Because that definitely is a concern of mine, though at the same time it's an intrigue of mine.
