You know, it really does seem Marcum enjoyed his time in Toronto a lot. I get the impression that he really enjoyed the city and the fans here which is something you don't really get with a lot of players who come here. Sure, some will say nice things about the city but don't really mean it IMO but with Marcum he's had nothing but positive to say about the city and the organization. I really do hope he gets to come back here at some point in his career.

MLBTradeRumors just confirmed as THE site that front office people in baseball all go to.
Jays GM Alex Anthopoulos just confirmed that. Said that he(along with probably every other front office person) regularly visits it.Comment

This Braves outfield is one of the most dynamic trio's I have ever seen. These guys can all hit, hit for power, run, and catch the ball. I know people rave about the Angels outfield, but Hamilton is overrated and old. All these guys in Atlanta are 28 or younger.JayElectronicaBluElzhi2PacTheNotoriousB.I.G.ReksSc arfaceFashawnJeruThaDamajaComment

The DBacks want to flip the shortstop Ahmed they just got for Porcello. That would be a good move for the Tigers.JayElectronicaBluElzhi2PacTheNotoriousB.I.G.ReksSc arfaceFashawnJeruThaDamajaComment

So Heyward moving to left? J-Up has a stronger arm but Heyward is a better defender so I'm not really sure who plays right...
Overall that package was pretty weak, although signing Prado to an extension would be big.Bakin' soda, I got bakin' sodaComment

No, Heyward stays in RF. Upton's arm isn't that much better, if at all, than Heywards."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." - Rogers HornsbyComment

Josh Hamilton is 31 lol. Hardly old. And he's not overrated when he tries. If someone can get the most out of him (to make adjustments throughout the season, show better plate discipline) he's still one of the best hitters in the game.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Yeah as someone who watched around 50-60 Rangers games last year, saying he's overrated is just not true. When he's in the zone, he's one of the best power hitters in the game. Not very many people hit 4 HRs in one game last year.Boston Red Sox

Re: 2012-13 Hot Stove League Thread
If you have to specify that he's a great when he tries, then he's probably a little overrated. Being great implies that you try most of the time.
He had the 16th best offensive WAR of all outfielders last season, and was awful defensively. He quit on the team down the stretch. Pathetic performance to close the season at Oakland. His OBP is way too low for a player with as much talent as he has. He's a hacker
A guy who doesn't try always try and quits on a team in the middle of a playoff chase is not the games best leftielder or whatever people make him out to be. And 31 is old when you consider he's at the end of his prime years, and is hurt a lot. He's already played his best baseball.
And when you factor in he has a .967 OPS in the hot air in Arlington and .858 OPS everywhere else, he's nowhere near being one of the games best players at the momentLast edited by CabreraMVP; 01-24-2013, 02:04 PM.JayElectronicaBluElzhi2PacTheNotoriousB.I.G.ReksSc arfaceFashawnJeruThaDamajaComment

Re: 2012-13 Hot Stove League Thread
It should be fun to track the progress of the Braves outfield this year. Offensively the Upton brothers run hot and cold but defensively you've got two guys who can cover a lot of ground have good arms. Same goes for Heyward.
At least the Braves are tying to be more dynamic than they've been in the last little while.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: 2012-13 Hot Stove League Thread
To me being great can mean you don't have to try as hard as others, and still outperform them. That's definitely Hamilton. Greatness defines him if you're saying that because he didn't have an amazing season, he's definitely not overrated. You expect him to do great things. Josh Hamilton compared to 90% of the league last year, had a great season. The reason you think it wasn't up to par is by definition because he's a great player. If you have to specify that he's a great when he tries, then he's probably a little overrated. Being great implies that you try most of the time.
