    Jamarcus Russell attempting a comeback

He's got mentors like Jeff Garcia and Marshall Faulk, among a host of trainers and doctors helping him

Saying he doesn't want to be remembered as a "bust," quarterback JaMarcus Russell is attempting an NFL comeback.

I'm curious to see how serious he is. He obviously had some potential.

I bet Rex Ryan would sign him for the media attention.

Guy is done. He's simply not smart enough nor did he ever show he was motivated enough to be a starting QB (or backup apparently). Hope he enjoyed the free money he got from the Raiders.

Lose some weight before you make that announcement-the guy is still at 320.

            laughable

I think he is down to 308 from 320 or atleast that was written in the article posted in the off-topic thread.

He is losing weight and did drop from 320 to 308 but to be honest he needs to drop another sixty pounds and build up his agility again before announcing a comeback. I personally believe that the kid is done in the NFL and maybe he should go look at the CFL when he drops the weight.

Guy lacks desire, plain and simple. He'll never make a comeback.*

                  * I'd love for him to prove me wrong, though.

I'd like to see him succeed in some capacity.

Hopefully he finally turned his life around and is ready to dive into this full force.

                        Why?

This isn't someone who had his career cut short due to bad luck or circumstances beyond his control, he simply stopped giving a damn once he got paid. He basically stole $39 mil from the Raiders.

He doesn't deserve a second chance, imo.

Who's to say he gave a damn to begin with? Either way, I don't think that matters. Personally, if anyone can get to a point where they can play at an NFL level they deserve a chance. Is it likely he'll get there? Without knowing details I'd say probably not. But if he does, I'd be happy for him. I don't think anyone owes him anything so he's got some work to do. But there was potential and if he does the work to give the impression he can now possibly reach it, good for him. No reason to be negative... it's also not like he got into tons of trouble with the law or threw everyone in his path under the bus like Jeff George (or Leaf who did both). No reason to hate the guy for trying... or at least claiming that he's trying.

If his motivation is purely economic, I dont see it working out for him. Even if he wants to prove everyone wrong and be a professional ball player I still dont think its gonna work out for him.

He had a big arm and frame, not much else. But it would be something if he did find success.
