I would like to be part of this Tiger Team and help anyway I can. As a native Michigander and loyal Tiger fan I think I can help out.
Its not who you are but what you do that defines you!!!

I'm in. I've been working on the faces for some of the minor leaguers over the last couple of months. So, let me know what's needed.

Edit: I've put together a player matrix in Microsoft Excel for 2013. I didn't do it in Google Docs because...well, I didn't know how. I put a lot of players on the list and I'm going to go through and add the ages, Bats/Throws, etc.

If we want to use this to start, let me know.

        All,
I've finished up a "starter" Prospect Guide in Google Docs. All potentials are just a starting point to use for discussion.

Hopefully I did the link correctly...God, suddenly I feel very old.

Edit: Ok, I guess I don't know how to add a hyperlink yet. I'll work on that tomorrow. I'm too tired...

Edit#2: Ok, I figured it out.

Good work Ivanhoe, ill look through it in more detail soon but i dont think anyone can argue with only Rondon and Castellanos deserving of A's, outside of those two we arent that strong on the farm right now.

          Good job.

Thanks. I figure guys like Garcia and Crosby will get "B" potentials in the stock roster, so that should help.

It's a "win now" kinda year!

I'm not so sure Rondon is an A, but my view will change depending on how SCEA rates players with a similar skillset... Whatever Carter Capps is given is what I would also give Rondon, they're pretty much in the same boat although Capps has better control.

Would have Rondon a level or two lower then Capps, Capps has a breaking ball, Rondon doesn't.

Again, any potential grades are just preliminary. Rondon may very well not be an A when all is said and done. Also, this may be a moot point depending on what roster Knight uses as his base.

My understanding is that his slider and change both have a wicked amount of movement but they're fairly useless since he has absolutely no command over them. Capps is pretty much the same, what separates him from Rondon is fastball command, but I guess when you're constantly throwing 100 mph you don't really need to paint the corners lol

                      Hi guys,

Huge Tigers fan and first-time player of The Show last year. Really enjoyed it and thought everyone did a great job with the prospects. While I'm not comfortable making players yet, I did come across this link at MLB . com that might help in the creation on prospects. Great scouting report and gives rankings of both current and future stats (hitting, power, fielding etc). Since I'm a first-time poster, I can't post the link. But if you go to MLB . com and click on Tigers, you'll be able to read the scouting reports.

                        Re: 2013 OSFM: Detroit Tigers

This year I will not have as much time to help but will try to pitch in a bit. I will be in Florida on vacation the first half of March so will not be able to do anything until I return. I will be at the March 10 game.

As for player ratings, I think only Nick Castellanos would be an "A". I would make Rondon a "B" as well as Jake Thompson, Danry Vasquez, Eugenio Suarez, Tyler Collins, Casey Crosby, Austin Schotts and Brenny Paulino. Wilk and Oliver should be in the game. That works out to one A and eight Bs. Vasquez proved to have a strong outfield arm so I would give him higher numbers for arm strength and accuracy.

Ivanhoe, thank you for preparing the chart. I have not had a chance to look at it, but I know it is a lot of work.

                        Karle

PS The more people helping the easier and faster it will be. Psychobulk please advise Knight of the Detroit team.

                          Karle,
Good to hear from you. I can't quibble with your suggestions so I implemented the changes to the chart. I'm still waiting to see if there will be new Potential Charts from Knight before I go ahead with working on the ratings. Enjoy the game!

I wouldnt disagree with Rondon a B instead of A, he still has to prove it all at the big league level, irrelevant of dominating in every level of the minors last year.

Also, hes not just a "100 mph fastball and nothing else man", his changeup is average and his slider is plus, maybe even plus plus, its wicked with lots of movement, Alburquerque like, and his control of it improved hugely last season, as the numbers indicate.

That said, a B is fair, i have no qualms with that.

Nice to see you about again Karle

                              Dear Ivanhoe,

I have gone through your prospect sheet and while I agree with most of your ratings, I would suggest the following changes:

                              1. Logan Ehlers - C (He is ranked the 20th prospect by John Sickels)
                              2. Eichhorn - D
                              3. Faulk - D
                              4. Gillies - Perhaps a C
                              5. Robertson - C
                              6. Weinhardt - D
                              7. Rawley Bishop - D
                              8. Daniel Fields - C (I think a D is too harsh - he started with such optimistic projections, but so far it hasn't worked out.)
                              9. Rockett - D (Despite his weak bat he is one of the best defensive outfielders in the Detroit minor league system with a good strong arm).

Some of the players I changed from an F to a D. Just as A ratings should be rare, I also believe F ratings similarly be rare. After all, if a player is that bad, then usually he should be released. In last year's roster I included only about 2 or 3 F rated players and they kept getting cut as we headed toward opening day.

In regard to the about 50 players that need to be created, I would suggest aiming for a breakdown about like this:

                              A - 1
                              B - 9 to 10
                              C - about 18
                              D - about 18
                              F - 2 to 3

Those are my thoughts at least.
