Speaking of the Rays....they signed Kelly Johnson.

Guess they never watched the 2012 Jays play...

Phillies signed Chad Durbin to a one year major league deal with an option for 2014, and also signed Yuniesky Betancourt to a minor league deal with an invitation to spring training.

Haha... Good luck.... Trust me, you'll need it.

I've heard that sound 3 times... once was Babe Ruth, the second was Josh Gibson, and the third was Bo Jackson- Buck O'Neil

It's only a minor league deal. I don't judge minor league deals. I honestly don't expect Betancourt to make the team out of spring training. He'll probably end up being filler at Triple-A.

This may actually be the worst defensive team in history

Most amount of errors since 2000 was the 01 Padres with 145, I wonder if they'll beat that mark lol.

Don't know if this has been discussed, but here's John Sickel's Farm System Ratings for 2013. The Cardinals, Mariners, Rays, Rangers, Pirates, Padres, Twins, Marlins, Red Sox and the Cubs make up the top 10.

In what God-awful world are the Red Sox above the Cubs and Mets? I'd also wager that the Phillies and Giants are too aggressively ranked, but I never agree with Sickels, or so it seems.

I was surprised to see the Cubs at ten because of our lack of pitching prospects. We've made a pretty decent jump up the board though, and I'm pleased at what the new front office has done with the system throughout.

The Red Sox have 3 T50 prospects (Bogaerts, Barnes, and Bradley) that is Tied second most in top ten I believe. I know I'm not putting up a really valid argument, but I'm too tired to.

The Phillies have spent the whole offseason making deals for all of the worst players in baseball last season. It's really hard to wrap your head around that a GM thinks these pieces are good adds..

Ben Revere: .294 avg, 150 hits, 6 triples, 40 stolen bases

Mike Adams: Career 2.28 ERA and a 3.27 ERA last year.

Chad Durbin: 3.10 ERA last year.

John Lannan: Take away his starts against the Phillies and he had an ERA under 4 last year. Has a career 3.80 ERA against every team other than the Phillies.

Delmon Young: .267 avg. 18 HR, 74 RBI. Played 31 games in the field last year and only made 2 errors. Yeah, I know he isn't a defensive wizard but so what. I'll take his home runs and RBI any day. Will probably have better numbers at CBP anyway compared to Comerica.

Yeah, those look like the numbers of the most horrendous players in the game... All the Philly hate lately just shows me that people know the Phillies can still get the job done, but want to have a sense of security that they can't. Just because a player isn't a bonafide superstar doesn't mean he should be labeled as "trash".

And the minor league signings are exactly that...minor league signings. No risk, possible reward. If it doesn't work out it's a simple release.

Look, I know the Phillies aren't the powerhouse they were 3-4 years ago, but they are not a bad team.

I love the dude, but you gave up two really good SPs for him.

He had a 4.78 FIP, he's not even a *good* reliever.

He's a decent signing, but really, is he gonna make that much of a difference?

He had a -.7 WAR last year and committed a completely asinine hate crime.

You forgot Michael Young, who had a -2ish WAR. And is a really, really bad fielder.
