I'm sorry but anyone who thinks Delmon Young isn't trash really hasn't watched him play recently. Delmon may have only made 2 errors last season, but he is probably among the top 5 worst defensive players in baseball right now, I'd say he's the worst but that's a bit of a homer opinion (hell Michael Young may be on that list as well.) Young may not always get charged with an error because he doesn't get to a ball, doesn't mean he didn't mess up horribly on the play. He usually takes god awful routes to balls and typically lets them drop (just my observation, have no stats to back this up) and this typically isn't accounted for in errors being awarded or not.
Why is it that a team in Detroit who has plenty of payroll flexibility would let Delmon walk away, when they look to have some combination of Dirks and Garcia in left. Dirks had a good year last year, but do we really think he'll hit as well as last year? And Garcia is a young unproven guy. Delmon only got 750k, Detroit could have easily picked him up for that if they thought he was worth it. Clearly they and almost every other team in baseball see something you don't.
