cpu running on 3rd and long

when playing the cpu, they almost always run on 3rd and long instead of passing. What slider changes that?

As well as this, many teams run a ton in rz situations

i don't think any slider change's if the cmp run's i've been simming games alot and watching the cmp play in play now game's and that's all the cmp did i think between both teams they threw maybe 10 times total and ran like 25 or more run plays. even when u play the cmp its the same way i think ea just needs to adjust to how a real nfl team run there offense because its just plain insane how the cmp react's in madden. i played a game today was 8 turnover's in game and the cmp couldn't do nothing with the turnover's because they would run on all 3 downs and then be forced to punt.

Re: cpu running on 3rd and long

This is one issue I've never had, I know a lot of people have had this issue but the only time I ever run into an opponent who is that run happy is when I'm losing by multiple scores (which isn't that often if I'm honest) or if they are gashing me with the run.

Otherwise teams do tend to play me like their real life counterparts.

Take my last two cpu games against the Lions and the Pats. The Lions had 10 rushing attempts in 65 snaps. Stafford threw 48 passes (5 sacks 2 scrambles). The Pats were a little more balanced but by the end of the game Brady was pushing 40 pass attempts (if I remember he had 38).

i've noticed this when playing a Strong Safety career with the Rams. we would be down by 6 pts and 3 timeouts with 1 min in the 4th. as i simmed through the offense, i would see Steven Jackson rush on 1st-4th down on multiple occasions at the beginning of the drive. it's like the CPU just gives up.

The games screwed up with this basically, you cant really use the teams own playbook cause its screwed up, they mostly run.. I trick to try is if you have another controller, switch the cpu playbook to run n gun or pass balanced or New Orleans playbook and they should pass a lot

It can get pretty ridiculous yes. Only when down by more than a score in the 4th quarter does the CPU really go to a passing offense, one time I blew out the Pats by 20, by the end of the 3rd quarter Tom Brady had thrown the ball EIGHT times. Ridiculous.

Wow, I've never seen anything close to that...

                That's just...wow.

Being a pats fan, unless they were losing late in the game, you would see them running a draw play on third ad long. No issue there.

I don't have this issue either. Once in a while they might slip a run in on 3rd and long but the majority of the time they'll pass it in that situation.

Some teams (like the Giants) often run on 3rd and long, much to the bemusement of their fans.

They run shotgun draws in those situations, though, which makes at least some kind of sense. To come out in the Power I and run an inside dive on 3rd & 7 is just ridiculous.
